The Options
I'm preparing to order my coupe. The options are a difficult choice as compared to my 03 Z06 where the cake was virtually made. Will the C6 base seats be a C5 seat? Will the side impact airbags have different door panels? Will this option help with insurance costs? I've never owned a coupe. Would the dual roof package be a smart option? Is it better to load these up or get just what you need, because I'm trying to justify spending $5,000 on the whole package when I really only want a few. Just thinking out loud. Thanks for any advice.

I went for it all..... but that is me... I also think about things like resell value as well.... but I only plan on having this one will 07 or 08... till I upgrade again.... again its just a preference..... I like options...

I think the only difference between base and sport seats is perforated leather and the side impact air bags are in the sides of the sport seats, not the doors. It should affect insurance rates slightly. Get the dual roofs if you like to see out the top through tinted glass. I think it's better to get as many options as you can. Makes the car better and worth more, plus more fun!

I think the more airbags the lower insurance rates will be but im not sure. I opted not to get the two roofs. On my 86 i have the dual roofs and although people like the glass when they first get in they quickly are over it and it just makes the car get hotter. When i have the glass roof in it is noticably hotter in the car while driving with my bad air conditioning and after it sits in a parking lot. One nice thing about the glass roof, especially in the smaller c4 is that without the extra insulation it provides more headroom, not sure if its the same on c5/c6. Also, if you ask me the painted roof just makes the car as a whole look better, plus then people are surprised when you tell them it comes off.

The base seats in the 1SX package will be like the base seats in the 99-00 Hardtops. The side impact airbads will be in the side bolsters of the sport seats. I don't think it will require any different door panels. It could affect insurance costs but it will be minimal. Dual roof is nice but it will be an expensive option.
It's up to you how much you want to load up the car. However; just remember C6 options are more numerous than C5 options hence the higher total cost.
I think you would be happy with a 6-speed 1SA package with Z51 package.
