Default Cd Changer wiring

Does anyone have a contact on the line that can find out if the C6 will be prewired for the rear 12 disc CD changer like the C5 was? When I had my C5 (2000) done the installer told me it was no problem because of the pre wiring but it would have been a "challenging" (EXPENSIVE) task without it. Since ALOT of us will be going that route because of the Nav/XM deleting the in dash changer this would be good to know ahead of time. I just heard today that the 12 disc changer is the exact same one that was used in the C5. By the way, from my experience, unless you know your dealer has a top notch electronics guy, pay to have a high end auto sound shop put it in!

First of all it will be a 6 disk. But I am hoping the same thing.

As mentioned above, it's a 6 disc changer mounted in the dash. The storage compartment below the trunk floor, where the current C5 12 disc changer is located, is gone in the C6. That space is now occupied by the exhaust.

If there will be a dealer option for a multi-disc changer in one of the two remaining side trunk compartments, I would be interested in hearing about it. Right now my second reason for going negative on the NAV is the loss of a multi-disc changer.
(First reason is that my Corvette doesn't need a NAV...)

I'm thinkin I may go with an Alpine system in my C6 in which case I'll probably be gettin whatever stereo comes on the base model. I think that would be the smartest way to go for me. I have an Alpine system in my SL so I think I'll go the same route with my C6. It also is made to play DVD movies so that's a plus. May just be throwing in a bigger pair of subs because I'll have more room to work with.

I am talking about the ALTERNATIVE changer to the six disc, in dash unit. It WILL BE, according to GM Parts, the exact same 12 disc changer that is available now for C5, and it will install in one of the rear storage areas using the kit that comes with the changer and the (I HOPE) pre wired connections to the in dash unit. I had it in my 2000 and it worked GREAT.... I would be happy with just a six disc changer but two seperate inquiries to GM parts both showed the current 12 disc as the unit available for the C6. For those of you on the fence about the Nav system because of the loss of the in dash changer, I would highly recommend the Nav system (I have had them for several years now) and I think it is a "must have" item and the 12 disc changer is all the music you'll ever need PLUS you still have the single CD slot in the dash if you wanted to play any other CD.

Even though the rear changer was an option on the C5 if not ordered the C5 didn't come pre wired of it. So I don't think there is any way the C6 will.
