GM controls the actual number of any limited supply items down to dealer level. It is called Contrained Allocation. In this case GM know's that they have only so many sets of wheels available in the supply line for that production week so they limit what can be ordered to match what they are being supplied. It is a constant push/pull deal between GM and suppliers trying to keep up with a "just in time" parts process.

Does this means some models will still be built with polished wheels? I ask this because i just got off the phone with my dealer at 10am pacific and i still have a TPW 7/26 status 3400. Would that mean my car is still a go. Is voms automatcialy updated or does he have to downloaded it daily? Just excited and curious!!

I just spoke to my dealer and he tried to convince me to forego the 2 constrained items on my order - the G90 Perf. axle and the polished wheels. The wheels you can always get later, but the axle is a different story. He said it could add "MONTHS" to my delivery. YIKES! He is definitely putting the fear of God in me. Could this be the case?

When I bought my 2000 A4, G90 was also under constraints - in fact, it almost always is limited to a certain percentage of cars due to the need for GM to meet CAFE standards. The constraint on G90 seems to be applied on a regional basis as well - it may be available in MI, for example, but not in CA - or vice-versa. I opted to wait when my dealer told me it was constrained, and the order was pulled the following week. ymmv, of course - tough call!
