On page 47 of the newest Corvette Quarterly is a steering wheel from one of the design-development cars. It has the form of the current wheel -- top spokes slant downward to reveal the instrument cluster -- but it's better-looking; muscular, sharp-edged, well-defined like the rest of the car.
So the question is, does anyone know if this is a REAL wheel that's still in development, or did it hit the "cutting-room floor," so to speak?
Nah, as it stands C6 shares a wheel with that POS malibu sedan. That thing is probably is ugliest steering wheel seen in modern cars.
I totally disagree with you that the new Malibu is a POS. Not only was the previous Malibu MT's COTY, but the new one is getting very good reviews, as well. The equation "Not Corvette and/or Import = Crap" just does not stand true any more. Do some research on modern domestics, especially the new Malibu, and you'll see they are getting better all the time, and the car review industry is recognizing it.
As far as the wheel, I certainly don't expect everyone to agree on what appeals to their eyes. However, I like the look of the Corvette (and Malibu) steering wheel, and have no problem with them sharing similar components. I don't even mind that the C6 shares a platform with a Cadillac. For over 50 years, GM has been able to provide us with an affordable sports car that is just as good as exotic imports. Part of that equation is platform sharing, and parts sharing for that matter.
I'll take what they offer, because it's the best bang for the buck ANYWHERE!
