Does anyone know how often the DVD has to be updated and at what cost?

You would only need to update the DVD if you feel the roads you travel on have had significant changes. Changes like restaurants, service stations and the like also change so you must decide how often to change. If you are keeping the Corvette long term, I would update every 3 years. Cost about $150.

With the hand held systems (i.e.Garmin) it's usually 1 to 2 years depending on who provides the geographic data, usually closer to two years. I assume with the system in the Vette (Denso) there will not be an update for two years, there needs to be enough changes in the road systems to warrant an upgrade.

The disk for the GM systems at present are going for $150 for the DVD, most hand held systems go for $75 to $100 but thats a CD. So the DVD provides much more data (4.7Gbs) where as the CD has less detail data (750Mbs).
