Ok, so I've been a huge Vette fan my whole life, but have never taken the plunge. More aptly put, have never been able to afford to. I prefer to buy cars/motorcycles new, so that has ruled out buying used. Anyway, I am now at a point that I can consider one of these babies, and I'm hopelessly in love with the C6.
This forum has been tremendously helpful and has answered most of the questions I've had just by browsing the threads. However, and I know this will sound stupid to all of you who are in the know, but what exactly do the abbr's 1SB, 1SA, & 1SX stand for. I know it has something to do with the model/options ordered, but need some clarification.
Thanks!
Those are abbreviations for the different options as you surmised. Each year, those different options change as to their content. One or more of the forum dealers has a website where you can lookup these options, along with the prices for the 2005 vette. Look for some of their threads in this forum.

Try these links for starters. They are hosted by Rick Daniel.
Thanks for posting those John George. Another forum dealer has been kind enough to keep me up-to-date on my order, so I hated to mention one dealer over another. All of the forum dealers help us so much.
Thanks for the clarification. Guess I could've jumped on a dealer site to begin with, but wasn't ready for that kind of a tease. Not that all the info on this forum hasn't been a tease.
Curious as to anyones thoughts on holding out for the Z06. Obviously, as it's not out yet, no one can vouch for it, but I figured anyone with a recent model Z06 may at least be able to share thoughts on whether it was worth the extra wait and $.
I like the sound of a coupe, 1SB (see, I'm already putting this new knowledge to work) and Z51 packages, but something tells me to wait and at least see if the Z06 will pack enough extra bang for the extra bucks.
I was a pretty huge performance junkie when I was considering my C5 purchase. I knew about the Z06, in fact it was just beginning to hit the dealers. In the end I didn't want to trade the convertible for the performance, in fact I would have chosen a targa over the Z06.
There is no argument that the ZO6 is a supercar and it can be easily modified to go even faster. If you lust for pure unadulterated race ready cars, no question wait for the ZO6. I don't even want one but I'm curious as hell.
The "standard" vette that does the 0-60 in "only" 4.2 is hardly a compromise and I'm sure there will be tons of mods if you need a little extra sumthin....

I had every intent of holding out for the C6 Z06. However, after seeing the pics of the C6, and at this point not knowing exactly what I would be waiting for in the Z06 (other than the extra 100 hp), I decided to take the plunge and ordered a convertible. I've already sold my C5, so the prospect of waiting at least another year didn't make much sense.
There are those who think buying the first year of a new model is risky. Well, that may be true in most cases, but the C6 is not exactly a new model, just a refinement of the previous generation. I think the Z06 will be more of an unknown, and maybe in a few years I will decide to move up. For now, I'll "settle" for a plain old C6.
