Default C6 observation

I sat in my first C6 over the weekend. I don’t want to rehash things that people have already said so I will just say that overall I am very impressed. This one was silver and looked amazing. A couple of things that I did notice and are worth mentioning:

The material around the center console is really cheap. I say this because it felt like cheap plastic and the one I was in had several scratches on this material. It looks like this part of the car is going to be very easy to scratch!

Also, I don’t think anyone has mentioned this yet; the windows lower slightly when the door opens. When you close the door the window raises to form a tight seal. Knowing how my C5 has leaked in the past this is a nice improvement. It should make for an extremely airtight seal.

I think this is called "indexing". It is a feature that apparently is found on others makes as well, for the purpose you mentioned.

The Infiniti G35 has it.

Also sat in the C6 last Monday. I really liked the ebony interior. The steering wheel looked a LOT better in person. My main concern was the seat. I'm 5'7" and the seat and driving position fit me like a glove. The headrest completely supported my head when put in a vertical position. I had a clear view out the front of the car and could easily see the side fenders. I did not find the top of the windshield to be low.

The one thing that bothered me was the rear visibility straight back through the rearview mirror. The view window seemed VERY narrow. Is this a problem for anyone else? Maybe it just takes mental adjustment with some driving. On the positive side, on turning my head toward the rear I had a good view oout the rear passenger quarter. I found that this view is obstructed on the C5 vert. There is also a slight distortion through the rear glass but it shouldn't be a problem.

Overall, best part of the outside styling for me is the rear. Love the sharp lines sweeping back and then cutting down toward the front.

If the battery is dead and the door is opened from the key under the rear plate does the window still need to go down a bit to open the door? Or is there some give in the upper seal so that opening the door without the window "indexing" will cause no problem?

Holy crap, did I just read a helpful observation? *rubs eyes*

Yep...yep I did.

Does anyone know how it compares to the C5?

A bit narrower than the C5 I believe. Just look at the cars in profile and compare the vertical height of the rear glass. Its a little less in the C6.

There should be no problem of the window not "indexing" when opening manually. After you use the key to open the rear, there is a cable on the left side of the compartment that opens the drivers door and then you can open the hood and replace/recharge that dead battery... remember to put that thing in Reverse when you shut it off!!
