Check your gas cap. It might not be on correctly

Good question. On the C5
  • Key to start, but leave the engine off
  • Press and hold the Options key
  • Press the Fuel key four times
  • That will scroll all systems.
  • Press 1 (Fuel), 2, 3, or 4, to enter manual mode
  • In manual mode, use 3 to move forward, 4 to move backwards through each system
  • 2 to move down, within a specific system, 1 to move back up
  • Reset key will clear codes (press and hold)
  • 5 (English/Metric) to exit diagnostic mode

Now having said all that, you should find that in the tech tips along with several code values and their meanings.

Does all this work on a C6? No clue, let us know.

Not sure what the problem is on your car but at the NCRS National they had to put GM's Silver C6 Conv. back onto there truck because they were having technical problems and the car wasn't even on, it was parked.

I asked this about 2 months ago, being I could get this info on my C5 I wondered if it was available on the C6. Never got a response.

I have had my C6 for 12 days and still do not know the answer, being the system does not operate the same I have not figured out what sequence you can get the DIC to display any DTC info. Additionally I do not know what codes the system can display if it can be done by the user. Someplace I did see there were 81 trouble codes for the C6. Unless we have a GM tech out there we might not know for a while if this option is even available on the C6.

Already tried that. I was hoping it worked as it did on the C5. No luck.

Unscrewed it and put it back on. Check engine light didn't go off. Used the nifty On Star remote diagnositic service. They suggested checking the gas cap as well. They said it could take up to 7 days for the check engine light to go off. We'll see. I'll update this thread with the end result.

Thanks for the ideas.

You can probably use the 'ol low tech solution to clear the code.........disconnect the battery for 10 minutes, reconnect, and see if it comes back. .

"Check Engine" came on in my truck, too. I checked the engine, it was still there. The light's been lit for about 4 years now.

I don't have a clue as to how you pull up the codes on A C6. It seems all mfgs like to change everything when they change models. On last year's model you rotated the **** to the right to function, this years models you rotate the same **** to the left to function. Same damn **** and function, they just like to change things so they can claim it's new and improved. You might want to go to http://corvettemechanic.com and see if he can help you.

Do you ever read a post before you respond? He asked for info on accessing the codes, not clearing them.

I wonder if the scanning software, like EASE, will display codes?

Computers computers better buy that fine 69 427 big block instead at least those are more accessible and easier to work on and don't depreciate.
