Manuals only. It goes straight from 1st to 6th gear unless you rev it to 6600rpms. You cannot downshift at a stoplight, you need to turn the car off & restart.

don't know about C5 & C6, but on a C4, there are certain conditions.

If the car temp is above 120 and throttle is less than 7%, CAGS kicks in.
There are a few other things, main thing is, don't try to force it into gear.

There are two simple ways to remedy this. Buy a skip shift eliminator or keep the throttle wide open! I vote for both

Well, actually, some of us that will be using the C6 for a daily driver in lots of stop-n-go traffic have a 3rd solution: mine will be an auto. tranny if it ever get here.

He meant to say 1st to 4th gear on manual tranny cars. (F-bodys too)

Just buy the eliminator it is like $15 and takes 15 seconds to install.
Actually when I bought my car, I came to pick it up with eliminator in my pocket. Asked them to put it on the lift and was done in a couple minutes.

You can always go to neutral and then down to second, that works.

My memory may be fading, but it seems that CAGS is more aggrevating on my C6 than on my C5.

I agree!!! If "skip shift" is getting in your way, it means that you aren't in any big hurry anyway. Just pause in neutral with a slight jog to the right in the neutral gate and you can then shift to second. C5 experience -- not C6, but I can't imagine it's much different.

I believe the skip shift is there to avoid a gasoline surtax. My 2001 Z06 skip shift happens once in awhile especially going through a stoplight intersection slower than anticipated.

Just took delivery on a 2004 Dodge Ram SRT 10 "Viper" truck...500 horsepower with about 12 mpg. Wonder why my Ram's Tremec T56 transmission doesn't have the skip shift??

Any ideas?

I remember reading it's against GM policy to have any vehicle require paying a gas guzzler tax.

Wow - do you mean you can go from 1st to 2nd WITHOUT going through neutral?

I think you mean you have to hold in neutral for a delayed amount of time.

It was funny. I had to read it twice before I realized the 1st to 6th wasn't a typo. Your avatar was like the coup de grace. Or something.

Though I'm not convinced that STPH8N (Daniel Lopez-Recio) is serious.
