I plan to order a vette this week from Boardwalk in Redwood City, CA. They cannot give me a delivery date, but can someone out there give me a ballpark timeframe? Am I looking at a 6 month wait or perhaps even worse? Thoughts? Thanks!
If it is a coupe and your dealer can not give you a delivery estimate, buy elsewhere. He has to know based on his allocation. How many Corvettes did he sell last year? How many people are ahead of you?
I think you may be getting yourself into a lot of aggravation.
I would check with a forum dealer if I were you. I think
I saw one quoting 5 weeks to order a coupe assuming
no restraints. You could always ship, do a courtesy
delivery, or a museum delivery.
Thank you both so much for your feedback. I called my dealer and told them exactly what you stated above. He agreed with the information, but still wouldn't give me an estimate - or any information for that matter (ie his allocation, how many people are in front of me, etc). I then asked if he had a 05 vette on his lot, and he answered no and that he wasn't aware of any dealership that has taken delivery of a 05 vette. WHAT?!?! I told him of four dealers w/in a 20 mile radius that had multiple 05s on their lots. With that, I'm taking my business elsewhere.... Thanks again for your suggestions!! :-) Suzann
You might try talking to Monica at Maxie Price or Rick at Les
Stanford. Ken Fitchner is also a great supporting dealer but
I believe he has sold his allocation for 2005. Kerbeck is
also a supporting dealer. C5 and C6 for sale sections would
have contact information.
I have never seen even a C5 on Boardwalk's lot, nor in their service department as I've taken my Jeep to the Boardwalk Jeep section a lot. I doubt they even have an allocation or would know the first thing about prepping a new Vette.
I bought my 2000 coupe at Andersons Chevrolet in Menlo Park and I know they have a huge allocation. Do not order from Boardwalk.
Silver06 - thanks for your comment. I know that I am now on the right track. I'm glad I posted my question as I probably would have taken my chances with Boardwalk. Funny you should mention Anderson Chevy, as I contacted them tonight about a Silver 05 on their lot now. It's nearly what I wanted to order (has OnStar, which I don't need). Thanks again to everyone who responded - I'm truly grateful! :-) Wish me luck....
How long it takes for you to get an ordered Vette depends on dealer allocation & the number of people already on the waiting list. We get a huge allocation of vettes & depending on constraints, I could order you a coupe that would get built in about 5 weeks or so. Let me know if I can help!
