Default Second ToP Status

I talked to Chevy Marketing today. They don't know about the one time offer of $750 for the second top to the people that ordered two tops and did not get the second top, however, they list the second top for $750. Soooo, I think I need to get to the dealer and get the $1400 back and order the second top for $750.

Can anyone add to this problem. Is my logic correct???
thanks,

What is listed as both tops for $1,400, is actually the clear top for $1,400. The car comes with a solid painted top.

When you choose the clear top instead of the painted top, the charge is only $750 because you are not taking the standard painted top. You are receiving a "credit" for the painted top.

Chevy parts should have a price for the clear top soon and it should be in the $1,400 range. A discount from a dealer such as Ken Fichtner should bring the price down to the $1,100-$1,200 area.

A clear top costs that much? Will that clear top fit as good as if you had received the top that was made for the car and order together and know that one top was made for that car? As opposed to going down to Chevy sometime later and buying a clear top. The clear top just gets too hot with that extra window greenhouse effect.

There are adjustments that can be made to the top if necessary. When the car is built with both tops, they always install the painted one at the plant and put the clear in the hatch holder. There just isn't much need for adjustments on any top.

So no need to worry it is ok to get the clear plastic top at a later date if on constraint and the top should fit just as good as one that was ordered to come with car.

Yes, it will fit just as good. I had my C5 transparent top fly off while driving (surprisingly it took the beating well). My new top fit just as well. Also, I sold the damaged one, and the person who bought it drove home with it on his C5.

Be very careful when getting quotes on the Clear Top. I have seen people quoted prices on the top in the 750-760 area and this is for the PLEXIGLASS ONLY. If you look up the top in their parts computers it shows the glass and makes it look like it is the right thing but it does not include: moldings, handles ...etc. Check the Part #'s If they are talking about part #10307542 then that is not the complete package. Part # 12499572 is the whole assembly ready to put on a car. It is also much more expensive around the 1500-1600 mark is what I think they said. Just a word of warning.
