Polished Wheels - A question
OK - so I have looked in person at the C6 - LOVE IT. Pictures do not due it justice at all. On the polished rims..... They look nice but I do notice the milky finish. A question that I have never seen answered here.
Are these the polished rims of my youth. Will some elbow grease and polishing compound turn these into shining / glaring rims? or is that all you get?
I'm almost 54 years old. I know of what you are talking about and what is still available from old standards such as American Racing Wheels or Centerline, etc.
The answer is NO. The wheels are murky mostly due to a clear coating to keep owners from having to rub them for shine.
I plan to just have the plain wheels exchanged out for chrome.
I'm assuming the C6 polished wheels are manufactured the same way as the C5's. The milky finish is there for life. Don't get "polished" wheels cofused with "chromed" wheels. Many do.
I prefer the polished C5 (and C6) wheels to the standard, but you aren't going to be able to comb your hair in them. A little elbow grease makes them shine, from five feet away, but the milky finish remains when you're up close and personal.
