Not exactly sure about the Vette Nav but I have one on my Infiniti FX35. You don't HAVE to change it but they offer annual updates for about $140/year. I have a friend with an Acura and it's the same deal.

Someone in another thread in this section mentioned $150 for an update. I think how often depends on how often the user thinks they need to update. Once every 3 years was mentioned as practical in that same thread.
