Does anybody have a rough idea of the order time for a new C6 if I ordered it today? I'm curious as to how long a wait I would have.
Thanks.
Coupes depend on the allocation of the dealer. The larger the dealer in Corvettes the larger the allocation and quicker they can order. Assuming your order was placed in the current cycle (Starting 9/23 & Ending 9/28) then you would be looking at a Build week around the end of Oct. with delivery in the middle of Nov......Approximately.
Not sure how it all works but I placed an order 3 weeks ago, got an order number but the salesman says it will most likely be 3-4 months from now, and I'm only #4 on the dealerships list for delivery.
There are cars in show rooms all over the country. Just go there and buy one. No waiting. Do a search of the dealerships around your area and see what kind of vettes they have in their inventory. If you don't see what you want, then order one like most of us did on this forum. Around where I live there are two vettes at two dealerships with VINS around the 2100 range.

Plus this is the only way now to get a precision red Corvette which was discontinued.
How fast it takes to get a Corvette depends on dealer allocation more then the number you are on the list.
Say your dealer gets 10 vettes a year. You would think that once you order a vette from him, he would enter it in the computer, GM would pick it up & process the order, your vette would get built. However, it does not work like that. GM will try to space out those 10 orders throughout the year. So just because your dealer places the order doesnt mean GM will accept it. You can get an order number, but your status event code will not hit 2500 (accepted by GM). It will stay in the computer at 1100 until one of those 10 vettes are due to come up. It can take months.
If you go with a larger dealer, say someone with 400 vettes a year, then when your order is placed by the dealer, the dealer has a lot more available weekly allocations, probably about 6-8 a week on average. Your order should automatically go in & be at 2500. Only hold up there will be dependent on how many sold orders are ahead of you and any constraints that effect your order.
We one of the largest Corvette dealers in the country & the largest in the southeast. If you placed a copue order with me this week, you would have it in about 5 weeks. I have a zero wait waiting list, so unless there is a constaint, your coupe order would be an accespted 2500 order by Tuesday.
Totally! Back in July I was going through a local dealer, was number 2 on their list and they only had an allocation of 1 a month. I was told in July it would take about 4 months to get my car. Instead of going with the local dealer, I went with a Forum Dealer that has a huge allocation, placed the order around 8/5, the order was placed 8/12, got a TPW of 9/13, car built on 9/16, and I'm looking at picking the car up the first week in October. So for me a total of 2 months instead of 4.
Ditto on dealer allocation affecting the length of time to receive car. I ordered mine in December 03 and am still waiting. Now, dealer said it should be built next month. It's a long wait for sure, but he seems like a nice guy and I have been able to save more toward the car.
This whole order-to-delivery timing business makes no sense. I odered on July 23 through a big Forum dealer and am still stuck at the starting line. Are small dealers slower or faster? Is there any advantage to going through the big Forum dealers? Are these folks who go sailing through in 60 days or less paying a premium over MSRP? Is there some dealer-factory political network that propels some customers to the top of the list while others are stuck in the mud? Not a particularly good system, to say the least!

Unless you ordered a Vert or have been waiting for Lemans Blue then there is no reason to be waiting since the end of July. There is no network or political system that puts some orders ahead of the others. It all goes by allocation and options. It is the same for every dealer. More allocation = more cars.

Thanks to all. What I get out of all this is that there is no backlog at the factory, but that the dealer allocation determines the timing. Sounds like 5-6 weeks is common at the bigger dealers. Seems like this is a sign that the inventory is not moving any quicker than the build rate, which is good for the buyer in the medium term.
