We can guesstimate...

About 28% of Vettes of '99 Vettes (My C5 year) were torch red. (also a few Mag Red, like mine...)

They've already made over 4000 Vettes this year, (my DSOM will be #4997!) and they just discontinued PR, I believe.

My guess would be about 1000.

Probably too many to be worth a hoot extra.

There's a few limited production C5 colors like green, purple, and very limited Aztec Gold, I don't think they're reselling at a premium. Maybe the gold would. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

Final numbers for Precision Red should be around 1,500.

It depends on the resale value aspect of a rare color. Most rare colors are ugly. The gold and purple just arent most peoples cup of tea. The purple is ok, but that gold is awful IMHO. The precision red is very nice on the other hand. I'd imagine in 30 years it will be definetly worth something. Cars that appreciate are usually ones that are loved and rare. Time will tell.

I certainly agree that they will be worth something.....

Just don't expect the value to be proportional to say, what a late 60's bigblock is, now. Remember, the main reason these old cars are worth so much more, is that we (me, at least) were at our maximum androgen stage when they came out, and we couldn't afford them at that tender age. But, we sure WANTED them! Now, we are in a position to be able to afford them, and relive, somewhat vicariously, those days, and will pay dearly to get those years back! Guys 16-25 years of age now, will probably have little reason to melt over an '05 PR Vette, when they're middle aged. (God, I hate-love getting old..)
I see the same thing happening with Harleys.....

I can agree with almost all sentiments above.
HOWEVER, 30-35,000 vette per year, for what, 5-6 years, =
150,000- 210,000 Corvette C6s? And how many are PR , ...a thousand?
Sounds "kinda" collectable" to me. Though I didn't buy mine for that -
I JUST LOVE THE COLOR!

And that's gotta be the best, or even only reason to go with PR. I doubt there will be a color selection slot to check off in Kelly's Blue Book, 2035!!

I do not see much premium pricing for color on old vette nowaday
and usually body is repainted over 30 years period, which makes
that value lost.

BTW, the most sold color with '71 vette was War Bonnet Yellow
which is close to gold.

GM stopped making PR because it was too dark of a red and they already had a dark red in the form of Mag Red. No need to have two dark red Vette's and everyone knows you can't have a Vette without a BRIGHT red and GM received many complaints about that too. So, they had to drop one dark red to add a bright red. Mag Red is a premium color, PR is not. So the decision was clear, drop PR and add a bright red in its place.

Well, one would think that Torch Red would be the logical choice as a bright red color for the Vette. However, according to some professional "color coordinator" hired by GM, Torch Red did not accentuate the lines of the C6 so GM dropped Torch Red and decided to go with Victory Red (already in use by GM so no R&D time wasted) instead since it is actually a brighter red than Torch and presumably accented the C6 lines to boot. I dunno, but that seems to be the clearest story I have discerned out of this so far.

Default Will PR vert be rare?

I picked PR for my C-6 long be for this color was discontinued. I am pleased there will only be approx 1000 made (per Dave Hill at Carlisle). Just to many TR C-5's out there to keep it going. VR will be a good replacement although common to Chevy line. The real question should be, how many PR verts are out there? None or only a few should have been produced except for pre-production. Now this combo should be "rare".

I'm glad they're bringing back the "bright red/orange color." More of those color (bright, torch red) Vettes on the road get stopped by law enforcement...that means the rest of us will have a better chance of going un-noticed while we slightly exceed the speed limit.

Remember the old law of thermodynamics..."when the heat is not on you, it's on someone else."

Most of what I've read seems to agree with this.
