My '69 Mercury Montego had that feature. Yes indeedy! When you stomped on the gas, the wipers sped up, like magic. Until, one day, showing off to a chick, I showed her the magic. When I stomped on the gas, I blew the exhaust sytem clean off, up near the headers, creating a sudden, massive noise, that sounded like the motor blew up! I had a big mess, and never tried that trick again.
My wife is speed sensative....... The faster I drive the more she complains, this feature works like a charm every time I try it. Perhaps I will have her hold onto the wiper switch when we drive together which in turn should solve the problem.
Whatever happened to turn on the windshield wipers and headlights on when you want to? freedom of choice now we let the computers take that decision/control away.
I completely agree. I will turn on the lights and wipers when I want to, not have the car decide for me. Yes, too much Big Brother.

OH, you mean the infamous right-seat oral warning system. My C5 has that, too.
Big brother? What the **** are you guys talking about. It's there to be convenient and you can turn it off. How is that Big Brother?
I agree, and maybe.... the system was designed to help those who don't know that it's safer to have both on when it's raining.
If the system allows for choice, then the hardheads still will be driving with no wipers and no headlights in the rain, or whatever is falling from the sky.
Of course, for those who never drive their Vette in the rain, the whole system will go to waste.

It is probably the same as any newer GM. When your wipers are on the fastest intermittent speed the wipers will go to the low non-intermittent speed automatically around 50 MPH. That is all it is.
