I placed my order with my salesperson on Oct 2 and was given an order sheet containing my selected options and the total price of the car. However, I was not given an order #. Should I have been given one?
Also, what is the preferred method for checking order/build status? I checked the faq, but did not find any info on this.
The process you described is a little different than the way my order was handled. On May 3, when I placed my order, I paid a deposit and was given a "Vehicle Order Detail (Abbreviated)" that listed the options I had ordered. It also had an order no. in the upper left corner: 6 characters, all letters, no numbers, beginning with the letter H. There was no financial information on my VOD.
Again, different than my dealer, your dealer should be able to tell you what the status of your order is, but several either can't or won't.
Once you have the order number, one of our great forum sponsor dealers, SuperChevyICM, AKA Marvin Johnson, can check the status of your order if you can't get your dealer to do it.

The form you were given is the one straight from the Vehicle Order Management (VOM's). cet001 it sounds like you were given a printout from GM Autobook which is the software program used to build orders to place in VOM's. Both are valid printouts of an order but ONLY the VOM's one is an actual order with an assigned order#. YOur dealer should be able to printout the VOM's one for you or even just give you your order# over the phone. As long as you have an order # it can be tracked.

Thanks.
Do you know if it is possible to change your order once accepted by the computer but no TPW yet?
I responded to this in my other thread. Just call your dealer asap. If they need you to re-sign something they will let you know. In my case, I just signed something that said I was buying the car at MSRP with a list of my options. They didn't get hung up over the fact that I added an option.
For that matter, the experience I have had with my dealer has been great. They have speant a lot of time with me, have been extremely responsive and patient. They really understand the product they are selling and understand how neurotic their covervette customers can be.
My salesman just got back from the Vegas Speedway track testing the C6 against a whole bunch of market competitors. He said the c6 blew everything away including a 90K porsche. I don't remember which model.

Your dealer has to call the Dealer Business Center as soon as possible to get them to make changes. They have to do it before it gets too far along in the process.

Well my salesperson said it cannot be done because the COMPUTER has already accepted the order. I hope it isn't the same computers they put in the C-6 PCM's BCM's what not but it would have been more $$$ for the sale of the car with another major option added. But like I said before between this and not getting the dual top option because of CONSTRAINT will be saving me $$$ and who knows maybe troubles down the road with these options and save me a date from the dealership.
What is the order number?? Marvin Johnson, aka SuperChevyICM, can provide a status code. If it is less than 3000 and no TPW you know it can be changed.
