The cruel joke of the C5 automatic climate control has been remedied in the C6. My C5 when set at 72 in the auto mode and the temp outside was between 40-46 would cook you out of the car, You would have to turn it down to about 62 to make it stop, if you just turned it off it would still deliver some very hot air. Also the recirc system stays in recirc for the most part and doesn't shut off every time a diesel would spew black smoke in front of you. I swear my C5 had a diesel detector in it.
This morning it was 42-44 and the system has the cabin very comfortable, thank you GM.

Did not have a C5 to compare it with, but I do like what I've experienced of the cooling/heating system so far. I have left mine on auto and have driven in both warm days and cool evenings, so I can tell you it puts out just the right amount of heat or air conditioning, whichever is required.

Did you have repaired? Mine did the same thing until I took it to the dealer. They reprogramed it and all was fine. I could set any temp and it would maintain it.

My 03 works as advertised too.

Yes I took it to the dealer, I got the standard answer, "Can't find anything wrong with it".

The automatic HVAC controls for my 2000 coupe have always worked just fine...no problems in 5 years, 54,000 miles...
