Default Where to order CHEAP CAGS?

You might as well know I'm CHEAP! Sure, I just bought a $55K Vette, but paying $25 for this dam CAGS plug-in irked me. So, I went to Radio Shack, instead, to get the $1 resistor solution. Only they don't have/couldn't get the right ohmage. (2.2k 1/2 watt)
Anyone have links to a cheaper CAGS gizmo?
(I don't gamble, 'cause winning $1000 doesn't do anything for me, but losing a buck pis*es the sh*t out of me!)

Nothing wrong with being cheap! I bought my CAGs unit from WCC and just sucked it up on the cost. What really bugged me was the $8.00 shipping cost. The thing only weighs an ounce. So with sales tax it came to about $30. I figure that the $30 will be long forgotten as soon as I go shopping for new tires. Cheers.

WHAT? I got an Automatic!
WAIT! WHAT? NO! Sheesh! I got a shifter now!
I forgot I went 6spd this time.
No wonder!

OK, I get it.
I'll still drive it like it's an auto, and just leave it in 1st!
Should be fine, for around town, as I rarely get out on the highway.

I believe CAGS is "Computer Aided Guidance System". In other words, the 1st to 4th skip shift on the manual transmissions. If you are not accelerating rapidly, when you shift out of 1st the shift lever is guided into 4th instead of 2nd. Saves gas and avoids the gas guzzler tax.

What resistors did they have? You could use two with less resistance in series that add up to the right resistance. The one you went to must just be out of them, because I know RS carries 2.2k Ohm resistors. If they don't have 1/2 watt, 3/4 watt, 1 watt, or even more would work.

P.S. If you don't think $20 is cheap, I don't know what is! By the time you make the weatherproof connectors, hook up the resistor, and package it, it probably costs about half that to make. Besides, what's an hour of your time worth when you are trying to make the "raw" connections and figure out how to make them weatherproof, only to have it possibly come apart on you if you didn't do it just right? I say buy it and do it right. It's a lot less of a rip off than "Z06 screens" that cost $100 or more and are nothing but a $10 piece of screen and a few sticky pads.

I just read in one of your threads that CAGS stands for "Computer Aided Gear Selection". :o Actually, I think my "Guidance System " sounds better.

Lousy RS! they had NO 2.2k at any wattage!
Anyway, didn't I say $25? I had every reason, initially, to go after a CAGS kit, but the price kept rising with every step of the way! I gave up at the 25 dollar mark. If I can get one cheaper.... well, that's my post!

That would be for when you put your C6 in autopilot. You did order that option right?

Two 1.1k's in series or two 4.8k's in parallel should work.

If it's like the C5, the CAGS light will go out at about 1800 rpm. At that point, it's no longer functional, and will allow the shift into 2nd.
