I know that this question is not a big deal. Just wondering. On my C5, when I cleaned the windshield, I could lift up both of the wipers (like on my wife NIssan) to easily get the bottom of the glass. On my C6, only one of the wipers can be lifted up (driver's side) and the other one can not. Why? Or is one of my wipers defective. Also the drivers wiper blade has a wind deflector on it while the passenger wiper does not. Just curious.

The air-foil (not wind-deflector), on the driver's side wiper only, is common on many high-end sports-oriented models. It's designed to keep the surface of the blade on the windshield at high speeds for improved visibility. At high speeds in the rain, I guess the engineers have decided, the passengers shouldn't see as well.

The passenger-side wiper on mine is the same way as yours: it will not fold back. This was discussed in another thread about a month or so ago.

Your wipers are fine! You have nothing to worry about.

I have read that you have to open the hood to lift the wiper. I don't have a C6 (yet) so I can't confirm it. Anyone with a C6...am I correct?

While you may raise the passenger wiper on the C5 you must raise the hood to do it more that a very small degree.

Yes, I have a C6. No, raising the hood doesn't help you raise the passenger-side wiper any higher than not raising the hood.

You can raise the driver-side wiper without raising the hood.

Or, maybe they have just driven at high speeds in the rain with their wives screaming because they can see and decided to do something about it........

I raised this issue back in September. It's not defective. You just can't fold back the one on the driver's side--hood open or closed. Someone sugested that it might be this way to keep the wiper arm from folding open at high seeds since the driver side arm bend is above the hood line. Maybe one of the GM designers will give a definite answer.

I thought it was the PASSENGER SIDE wiper arm that could NOT be lifted?
