For all C6 owners. There's something I don't quite get.... The first thing a lot of new owners want to do is change something. Change the sound system, change the tires, change the exhaust, change the intake, change this, change that, and change the other while you're at it...! I realize that folks want even MORE power than this already well muscled ride offers, and I realize that people want to personalize their new Baby (we named ours Ruby), but wow! It just seems odd to me that so many people want to rush right out and do something to alter their already 1) very fast, 2) very agile, 3)very hot looking, 4) very luxurious, 5) 50+ K sports car...

Don't get me wrong, I'm not immune to the fever. I've actually toyed with the Corsa exhaust thing in my own mind, just toyed... Part of me understands. But the other part goes, "you wanna' WHAT...?" "Dude, your drivin' one Bad, Beautiful, Ride.... Don't F*** with it, be happy!"

Make any sense, or am I more screwy than I think?

To me it does. A lot of things that were added to the C5 seemed tacky and I'm sure the C6 will be the same.

For my C6, I've added the Lloyd floor mats, and have ordered the 44 LED CHMSL. I'm also considering the painted to match rear license plate frame. I prefer to think of these small things as improvements rather than mods.

I usually don't do much to my Corvettes. With the C6 all I plan to do is get the painted CHMSL and some chrome wheels.

Although I am done with just the Lloyd's floor and cargo mats along with the chromed factory wheels, others may choose to do a lot more.

Your thread is titled personalized. That explains it all. Whatever floats the owner's boat so to speak.

I see nothing wrong in that. Who am I to say what is tasteful or not??

It is totally in the eye of the owner.

Guess what...you car feels fast & agile until you upgrade it & realize...wow the Vette can be so much more! We have a 600 HP/650 TQ 427, so for us a stock Vette feels slow. So, it is all relative to where you are at in the food chain. Otherwise, there would not be all this excitement over a 427 Z06. Remember a stock Vette is a compromise of performance, daily driver handling, fuel economy, etc.

I'm going to get the matching shift and parking brake boots for the interior (Red), but those are stylish I think. Also matching Lloyd Mats if they come in Red. And possibly the color keyed door handles.

Well, I can't answer your last question, since I have no idea just how screwy you are capable of thinking.

I don't know if I can answer your first question, either, probably 'cause I don't know how screwy I think. I guess you have to separate what is an upgrade, personalization or improvement vs a modification. Maybe you could look at it as though we all drive black four door sedans because that's all that is available. So, we do things to our sedan to set it apart from everyone elses. Although the Corvette is a bit more distinctive than the average car, many still like to put their signature on their car. Nothing wrong with that.

I do agree that before I would mod my car, I would want to drive it long enough so I would know that whatever I did made a difference. I can't speak for the exhaust on the C6 (I don't have mine yet), but the one on the C5 early on were just plain bad. So, I had Corsa installed right away.

Everyone looks at these things differently. I guess it also comes down to how much money you have.

Default Big Laugh

Thanks C6magred, gotta' big laugh out that one...

Again, don't want yall to get the wrong impression, I will probably do a number of small things, Loyd mats, maybeeeee the rear third brake light. Remember Dave Hill saying that's the way the light was originally palnned, but it couldn't pass the crash test? Gotta' think about the rest of it, and drive her awhile to know for sure...

The one thing I do know for sure is that She's one Bad, Beautiful Ride...

Aside from a CAGS Eliminator, and different-brand tires when the originals wore out, I left my 2001 C5 bone stock through 64,000 miles. It does happen.

But when I get my next Vette, the stereo's coming out. My entire music collection is now MP3 and I'm not messing with those awkward plastic platters any more. And that alumiplastic console has got to go. And the wheels are pretty, but I want something darker. And then there's those bug-eyes -- I don't know what I'm going to do about them, but I gotta do something. And...

To each his own I am 32 and I will do quite a few mods the minute I get the car its just a matter of choice. I like a better sound system and a little faster. There is nothing wrong with the stock corvette at all just different strokes for different folks.

When you drive by, your friends will know it is you regardless of what you do to your C6. If you want to be unique, black was the wrong color to pick because it is one of the most popular C6 colors. You should have went with white. There are plenty of 60+ members on this forum who where all once 28 and have never left or never will leave the sticker on the window but you probably insulted just the same.
