This is a little drill I went throght 7 times in my Viper before I put a front tag on it and made it look like crap. Last night I'm in my 10 day old C6 on a strech in Richmond where people speed like mad. I saw the guy from 200 yards and was well within speed. 10 cars behind me and sure enough he pulls out, takes 5 minutes to pass everyone and get on my bumper and pull me. "Do you know you don't have a front plate?" "No s*&t" Anyway, nice enough guy who obviously wanted a C6 tour and gave no ticket. I guess I have to ruin the looks of another car. I did a search and could not find the pics someone posted with the plates in different areas on the front. Does anyone know where that is ? Also has anyone done any different , less awful looking installs? Thanks
If your state requires a plate, shouldn't one have been included with your car?
Here in California, we have to pay $50 for a plate bracket and the dealer is required to mount it either with screws or tape. "YOU" have to tell them not to do it.
Mount the front plate, put a piece of velcro on it, and then put the cover back on.
When you get pulled over, say you do have a front plate, pull off the cover, show it to him, say you were at a car show and forgot to take the cover off when you got back on the road.
I live in Virginia and for over 30 years have had NO front license plate on any of my cars... hope this does not curse me saying that but there is no way short of threaten imprisonment that I would put a front plate on the C6..I will pay the fines if that ever became the situation.

Good plan for a C5, but the C6 doesn't have a cover to begin with.

You obviously are not familiar with the front of the C6 in regards to the license plate. There is no cover.

The C6 front plate bracket is a "no charge" option from GM. Originally it was designed to be mounted with pop rivets (supplied) and was changed to double sided tape mounting (supplied) after all the stink that was raised.

Why can't you use the free one that comes with the C6?
I live in a state (MD) where they will routinely pull you over for no front plate. Photo radar being used in a lot of places has increased enforcement.
The factory supplied plastic frame installs with double-sided sticky tape, and with care, can easily be removed later, without damage to the nose. It's raked back for aero, and looks just fine.
Actually provides a little (very low speed) nose protection for those times when you just had to parallel park, or when the careless ease forward a little too much in those suburban parking lots.
There is some guy that has posted of his front mounted plate wedged up inside behind the grille. I suppose it is an option, but the engineering behind its placement seems sketchy.
Has anyone else seen these pix and know the location?

You obviously havn't seen the C6 front plate mount. It's sickening!
I live in Maryland and I didn't even notice that their wasn't a place for the front plate. My daughter noticed it Saturday at the dealership. I'm going to try it for a while without the plate. Chances are my 27 year old son will take it out and get pulled over for it. I also plan to tint the windows, probably a 30. Think my days will be numbered once the C6 comes in.....
in CA a front is required also, but I've never had one on my last 3 cars and never been pulled over for it. I usually will keep a bracket and the extra plate in the trunk, and if I do ever get pulled over for it, I'll point to it and say I just got the bracket and was on my way home to install it.

Haven't had a front plate on a Calif. Vett. or any other car. Just lucky I guess. They don't seem to go out of there way to ticket.
I have not fun a front plate in Texas on a Vette since the mid 80's. One out of 10 cars don't run one around here. However I have been pulled over and paid fines twice in about 10 years. I have no problem paying the fines. My concern is when I get pulled over at a bad time...that is the real risk of running without a front plate. No front plate gives them the right to pull you over at any time.
