Orange light by passenger visor

There is a little orange light that comes on at times by the passenger visor. Does anyone know what it means and why it does that?

Its a small light that gives a subtle beam of light when driving at night. BMW has this in its cars.

I have OnStar on my C6 and I also have that subtle little orange light under the passenger's sunvisor(not over where the console is), but on the passenger's side of the car.
I don't know what it is either, unless it has to do with OnStar.
