dead battery condition
I have had a problem with my C-6: Battery rundown after sitting for a couple of days. Two dealers have checked the car for parasitic draw and found no excessive draw. They both tested the battery and felt it was OK. So now I'm left with a car that I can't use. The dealer that sold me the vehicle now tells me that I am the third person they have sold a C-6 to that is having the same problem. They say they have a call in to GM Tech and are working on a solution. It is a 6 Spd Z-51 car and I am shutting it down in reverse. VERY FRUSTRATING!! I love the car, but it has become a real nightmare!! Anyone else experiencing this problem or aware of a remedy? Thanks.
Disconnect the battery right after shutdown when you know the battery is charged. Let it sit for a few days and then reconnect. Is the battery dead even though it wasn't even connected to the car? If so, you could have a bad Delco battery; there have been some of those in C6's.

Thanks Mikey
Thanks for the advice. At least that will isolate the battery. I'll take it out for a nice long flogging and then park it with the battery disconnected. I'll let you know how I make out.

This shows the difference between a company that cares for it's customers and one that dosen't. A couple of months back my neighbor (81 YO) purchased a new riding mower at Wal Mart. He brought it home, started mowing his lawn, got about half done and stopped to take a break. About 30 mins later, he tried to start the mower and it was a no go. He put his battery charger on it for a couple of hours, but still no go. He asked me to help him load it into his pickup so he could return it to wal Mart. Knowing that he wasn't very assertive, I asked him if he would like for me to go to Wal mart with him. We back up to the curb in front of the garden center checkout and a Wal mart employee was there within a minute, asking he he could help us. Explained the problem, two additional employee's showed up, and onw went to get his personal pickup, so he could pull up to the rear of my neighbors pickup to do a jump start. With the jump start, the mower fired up. The employee went back to the auto dept, came back in about 3 minutees with a new battery, installed it in the mower, and checked it out. Started right up. They apologized for our inconvence and sent us on our way. No hassle, no paperwork, no having to raise my voice, no excuses. 1st class service. Your Chevrolet dealer should have put in a new battery in your car, no questions asked. That's why Wal Mart is gaining market share in their business sector and GM is losing market share in theirs.

I bet you come back to a dead battery. Too bad your dealer lets you do the real work to find the problem. I agree with the post above, they should have changed your battery out all else being the same. It costs the dealership nothing but a little time as they get reimbursed from GM.
Now you not only have to waste your time finding the problem which is what your dealer should have done, you have to waste your time yet again to go back to the dealer to have them do what they should have done in the first place????

Same thing happened to me... once. Z51 with six speed and the car was in reverse.

Same thing with me too. Car was definitley in reverse. Car sat for four days because of rain. Hasn't happened again but car has been driven daily since then. Hope this isn't a gremlin.
