Default C5 vs C6

Looking for opinions from former C5 owners......

What do you think about the C6 vs the C5?

I am considering both and have yet to test drive a C6. I am enamoured by the C6 and it's reviews, but many experienced folks have told me there is not a big difference (save the 50 HP).

Which way to go????

I owned five new C5's since 1998. The C6 is very much a different car. If you drive a C6 you won't buy the C5 regardless of the price difference.

Have fun.

I've Owned a C5 for years & i Luv it. I've Driven a C6. Most of my friends(non Vette owners) don't See much of a difference.
On this Board, the Opinions will be geared to the C6 obviously.
The C5 Board tends to "Bash" the C6 relentlessly.I am Planning on buying a Low Mileage C6 next year. I will Keep both Vehicles.I know that doesn't help much. I'd Suggest Test Driving them both & decide on your Favorite.
They are both Fantastic Cars, not to mention they are CORVETTES
Good Luck on your decision. It is going to be Tuff. You really can't Lose, either way.

I have a 2000 C-5 Vert and I really like it a lot, but I went to see the C-6 for the first time the other day and I loved what I saw. I know the new C-6 Vert is not out yet but I am looking forward to seeing that version. I may have to break down and get one..I hear the C-6s calling my name.

You really need to drive both. Otherwise the opinions will be as follows:

1) If you already own a C6: then of course there's no comparison and the C6 completely kicks but over the C5 in every possible category by huge amounts.

2) You own a C5 and test drove a C6 but are not buying one: In this case there isn't much difference and the C6 is not really any better than the C5 and is ugly to boot compared to the C5.

I owned a C5 until the dealer wrecked it last month and now have a C6 on order. When I first saw the C6 pictures quite a while ago, I wasn't impressed. My C5 that I had for two years did not go into the shop ever for repairs of any kind--not even right after delivery. I did an early trade and it's now sitting on the dealer's lot. Last weekend when I went down to check out the C6 wheels, I looked at my C5 and thought it looked outdated. The C6 looks more modern, has the NAV system along with on star, new entry system, heated seats and more. Even though I really liked the C5 and washed/waxed, cleaned it every week and thought I would never like another car as well, the C6 has won me over. My order went in last Thursday for black with gray interior and black top and should be here around Christmas. Can't wait. Tough decision. C5 probably has some great deals out there and it's a top notch car. Good luck.

The C6 is exactly what they said it would be - better in all respects than the C5. I traded mine on a C6 and have never been happier. Well, except for the radio.

Which radio? My C6 Bose is significantly better than my C5 Bose, although it certainly isn't an audiophile system. I hear that the single disc player isn't as good as the 6 disk changer. I think the whole Bose system is upgraded with the 6 disc setup.

The C6 is an upgrade over the C5, in almost all ways.
The C5 was a GREAT car, and only began feeling a little 'long in the tooth', for me, after almost 6 years.
The C6 ride is better, stronger, more compliant, and quieter, than the C5. The interior is more luxurious, and nicer, all around.
The doors are easier to close, the hatch, about the same.
The steering wheel has a better feel. The tires are more compliant, smoother, but grip as well, or better than the C5.

Default 5 or 6

traded in my 05 c5 vert for a c6 . the difference is like night and day besides the hp. the handling ,comfort( and all the gadgets) make the 6 an entirely different car. a definate step up. i owned 2 c5's both coupe and vert. each was nice but the 6 is by far the best

Default Funny how the styling gets better after the first test drive

I owned a C5 for 2 years, and missed it almost since the day I sold it 4 years ago. The C6 is improved in almost every regard. The main complaint from C5 owners is the exterior styling. What's funny is somehow the styling seems to get better after that first test drive

But nobody really debates that the C6 is a better vehicle - just whether or not it's worth upgrading over a C5. I can totally respect that judgement. I said 2 months ago if you could find a great deal on a C5 (especially a Z) from dealers blowing them out way under MSRP with 0% financing for 5 years, do it if that's what you can afford and welcome to the club! Drive it for a year or so. Besides, in a year there won't be a single C5 owner that questions whether or not the new 500HP Z06 is a better vehicle, and maybe by then you can make the step up. That thing will be a BEAST.

I've had two C5s, and just got my C6 this week. The C6 is definitely a better car in virtually every respect. But the C5 is still a damn fine car. I loved my '03 convertible. I don't think the C6 is night and day better, but just take everything about the C5 and multiply it times 1.2 or so.

I am the kind of person that when a new model comes out with different stiching on the seats, and three more horsepower - I just gotta have the new stuff. That's just me. But if you are not that ****, the C5 will still make a fine ride.

I had a Z06 for about 6 month. That was long enough for me.

I am driving both right now, The C6 is very big improvement over my C5. I was shocked at how much it has improved. The ride is firmer, and it is a much tighter car. Much more responsive to the point I thought something was wrong with the 98.
I have to agree with the interior comments, it is very much improved.
Go for the C6 you won't regret it.

Buy the C6 if you like to spend a LOT of time at the dealer. I like the C6 styling and am anxiously awaiting the new Z. However, I will wait a year or 2 to actually order one.

I do not like the idea of spending 60k+ to be a BETA TESTER for the General. The many bugs in 05 C6s should never be happening in a 'world class car'. The new SLK 55 certainly won't have all these issues.

I have a new C6 with 2K and I haven't spent any time at the dealer. My many friends with new Mercedes' on the other hand have been plagued with problems (which is why I've kept my old reliable E320 rather than trade it in for the new, trouble plagued one.) My Vette and my Suburban on the other hand have been trouble free. (Sub has 72K)
