Hello all.... I picked up my White C6 on Tuesday and absolutely love it. I have owned an 85, 87 and 94 and do remember that the cars never seemed to have a smooth idle.
I just want to compare notes with everyone to see if your cars have a rougher than normal idle.
My questions would be.
1. What is your RPM at idle?
2. Can you feel your car actually move around due to bumps in the idle?
3. Is your idle slightly inconsistent?
I may have been driving Mercedes too long now and am simply not used to the Vette, after all, it has been 10 years since I had my 94.
Any input would be appreciated; well I guess not ANY input, but rather constructive input, I’ve seen some crazy input here on the forum.
Thanks.
Got 1175 miles on my MN6. Noticed a very slightly rough idle a couple of days ago, but it was right before I turned the engine off and I did not bother to look to see what the rpms were. I had just run the rpms up a little higher and a little faster than usual about 5 minutes before that.
Did not notice anything like that yesterday or today.
Z51/auto-900 miles Idles at about 6-700. Generally smooth but occasionally I notice a very slight roughness-nothing to get upset about-Heck, it's so quite at idle its nice to know its still running!! Enjoy your new car!!!
Six-speed idles at minus 650 rpm with slight cam lope. If yours is an auto it may be more pronounced. Just normal in my opinion - even my C-5 had a similar idle.

Mine is an automatic and idels at 500 even. I thought that raising it a bit might help. What do you think?
I had a 300zx tt before I got my C6. It had a pretty smooth idle, not exactly like a Honda or a Mercedes. I was a little surprised by the Vettes less than smooth idle. I assumed it was because it was not broken in yet and was avoiding taking it into the Chevy. It makes me feel better that others are reporting the same idle quality. It's not bad though.
