I live in a smaller city in Indiana, near the Ohio and Michigan borders, and the closest big city to us I know the roads pretty well, so I was wondering if the 1SB package is worth it? I know the heads-up display is great, but I mean for $3k or more I could glance down at the gauges.
Also the other options, like the seat memory, telescoping steering wheel, etc, are they worth the $3k?
Also, what is "Special Paint" option on chevrolet.com? It costs MSRP $300.00, is it just more coats of paint and clear?
I had HUD's in other cars and I think it's helped me be more conscience of my speed the HUD in the Vette has several modes. The memory function is really helpful when there are more than one driver adjusting mirrors, telescoping, seat position. The seats adjust based on which FOB you have Driver 1 or driver 2. And I wanted both seats power adjustable.
The 6 disk cd changer in dash is nice but I'm happy with the Bose Premium stereo unlike many plus it has the MP# capabilities.

This is a charge for processing.
Dave, I know you're a forum supporting dealer and all, but my understanding was that the special paint charge covered the tinted clear coat used, not a processing fee.
I wasn't sure about the 1SB when I ordered it but, now that I have it, I'm glad I spent the extra money. The two biggest "unnecessary" items, to me, were the HUD and the heated seats. I always wanted the telescoping wheel (which is great), auto dim mirror/compass, and the 6 CD changer, but I would have opted to not get the HUD and heated seats.
The HUD is actually USEFUL. A clear, digital speed readout sitting in front of your face on the windshield is a wonderful thing to have. I'm much more aware of my speed now and can monitor it without diverting my eyes. I still use the analog tach simply because it's so much larger than the HUD readout. Those stupid heated seats (who needs heated seats on a sports car?) have been in use almost every day this fall. They will heat the seats quickly and keep you from getting chilled while the engine warms up.
So while you certainly will not own a lesser car if you don't get the 1SB package, it is IMHO a very worthwhile package to have.
My 2001 coupe was a 1SA (which that year was analagous to this year's 1SX) and I added nothing but Z51 and MN6.
My 2005 coupe is a 1SB with Z51, MN6, and UE1 (OnStar).
I am enjoying the 1SB, but I wouldn't call any of the elements essential. The power passenger seat comes close, though, only because it allows fore-and-aft height adjustment, which to me and my regular passengers greatly improves comfort. And I have found a slightly better driving position thanks to the telescoping steering wheel.
It's a nice set of toys -- except the obnoxious stereo, which as I write this is being replaced. Had I been more concerned with price, I probably would have skipped it. Mainly I knew at the time I ordered that 1SA and 1SX were constrained, and waiting longer to get less didn't appeal to me.
You are 17, right? When I was 17 I used to ride shotgun in my friend’s 427 C3 convertible. It didn't have air conditioning and the windshield would fog so badly in the rain we would have to stop to clean it. It would overheat on the way to the beach and you could cook dinner on the heat coming from the console. At 17, I thought it was the best car in the world. Today I wouldn't order a C6 without the 1SB package. If you get the Vette, you will love it so much the bells and whistles won't matter that much. If you can afford to get the bells and whistles, get them. If you can't, don't worry about it.

You will find the 1sb package has a better resale value also. Is it worth it, most will say yes.
The HUD unit was great in the C5 but is even better in the C6. In the C6 especially it's tough without the HUD to know how fast you are going. You might think you are going 40 but youa re really going 60. With the HUD your speed it projected right in front of you so it's tough to ignore. It definitely saved me a couple of speeding tickets.
I got the sa package side air bags were important to me as were sport seats.I really don't like the hud although I think its a cool feature ,personally I find it distracting.Borrowed my buddys c5 for a weekend and found myself turning it off, just my opinion most people love it.The windshield is coated for the hud so its more reflective in the daylight and is expensive to replace( in the event of a rock chip) which I also didn't like.Doesn't get cold enough here to need heated seats ,I would have liked the auto dimming mirrors in the sb package but the stereo wasn't going to cut it for my taste so I knew I might have to change it Premium version or Basic.
Saved 3k to put towards a stereo and transparent top.Evaluate what works best for you everybody's needs are different.

Yes, if I get any kind of C6, even if it is 100% unloaded, I will be living a dream. But still, you might as well live the best dream you can. Thanks for the help guys.
At 17 I doubt I will be going anywhere needing the Navigation, however that would be pretty tight having it. But just being "pretty tight" isn't worth $1,000+ in my opinion. Is there anything else the Nav program does? Also, with OnStar, is it worth it? With this being the first year of the C6 and quite a few having some troubles, it seems like it would be nice to be able to have someone there if your car does stop working.

I have owned a few GTPs and a GTX (Grand Prix) and the HUD is simply one of the best things I have ever had in a car, also heated seats. Fall/Winter/Spring in Indiana is quite chilly (topping in the high 40s low 50s) and heated seats would be nice to get warm for the nice ride, however not completely needed, as I would be driving a 'vette, what more would you ask for? Also, is the heated seats automatic? (God I hope not) or is it manual?

I'd pay the $$$$ for the 1SB just for the heads up display!!!! One of the coolest features on the Corvette in my opinion
You will find the 1sb package has a better resale value also.
But enough of a difference to recoup the $4,360? I hear the resale argument made all the time, as if 1SB is a good financial investment. It's not. You'll lose money on it just like you lose money on the rest of the car.
Only if you are so injured in an accident you can't use your cell phone. I was one of the first people to stop at an accident where a Cadillac ran off the NYS Thruway and hit a tree head on. The airbags deployed and when I got to the car the Onstar operator was already talking to the occupants and had called for the police and an ambulance.
My wife and I have had Onstar on three of our cars and after the first free year we never renewed membership since we never used it. Being able to call for directions and travel information is nice but not worth $400 a year or whatever they want for that package.
I think the package is worth the investment for the reasons stated abouve, however the heated seats are a waste (Florida). But the all time biggest waste of money IMHO is onstar. I would not of ordered it at 695.

I didn't say that exactly right ! I meant it was an additional fee for a special paint process!
