I know this something that most people dont brag about, but I got into an accident last week. I was taking a left hand turn and accelertating and I started to oversteer and tried to correct it but ended up sliding into the curb. I had stability control turned on and still did not help. $3k worth of damage may go higher once it is on the rack. I only had 780 miles on the car.
The accident could have been much worse had there been another car in my way, but thank God there were no cars near me. I learned my lesson and it was stupid of me to be driving that fast. You have to respect 400hp and I do.
Sorry to hear about your misadventure. Learnin the hard way sucks but your alive, the cars going to get fixed, and your a wee bit wiser than before. Most everyone has made an expensive mistake behind the wheel so dont let it eat at you.
That sucks!!!! Respecting the power in a corvette has always been a wise idea.
TC helps keep many drivers on the road these days when they get in over their heads, it happens all the time, or the roles of wrecked vettes would be much higher but TC has limits.
Hope for the best.
It takes a lot of character to admit to this when you are anonymous and don't have to. You deserve all our recognition.
Very sorry you had an accident, BUT at least noone got hurt. Thats the main thing.
It sucks to learn the hard way!!!! I have done that a few times myself! NO FUN!!!
Sometimes the hard way is the best way to learn. It really makes you realise how bad a situation is. Now, I am not saying that it is good that he wrecked, but you definitly learn a lot more if you do it yourself, as you know exactly what you did, when you started to lose it, and now know how to prevent it (for the most part).
AHS saved my azz big time. A short time after taking delivery of my then brand new 03 Coupe I hit an ice covered part the interstate. The back end started to come around. Right at that moment AHS kicked in and the vette came right back into line. All this happened in a matter of seconds. Of course when I got home I had to change my underwear.
glad you are ok. Dont feel bad. The back end on mine has stepped out one me a few times. going around a corner giving it the gas. Always snapped back and was never going very fast but I can see how it could happen and I will try to avoid this from now on. 400 HP is hard to hook up. Best of luck on your car.

I suggest that you ignore the 'naive' comments. It takes a while to get used to increased hp. When I first got my 1994 with only 305 hp I made the mistake of accelerating in a turn before I straightened it out. It's unnerving to look over your shoulder and see your rear end passing you. I now have the 2004 Z06 and with a respectful approach have avoided problems. Just take it easy for a while. But the truth is that the only way to find out what the car can do, or what you can do as a driver, is to ask too much. So ask more a little at a time.
I have always said that the very first modification any Corvette owner should make is to herself (or himself). Now might be a really good time to consider the Spring Mountain Advanced Driving School. You will be taught the limits of your car and how to handle many situations. It is a really cheap mod that can save you $$$$.
