A Continuous Rush
I just picked up my new C6 and it is a fantastic vehicle. It looks great, it is powerful, and it is comfortable. During my 200 mile trip home from the dealer, I keep trying to find the right words for how I felt while driving it but I was at a loss. Then like a sign from above, the XM station I was listening to, did a station identification and claimed listening to them was a “Continuous Rush”. Bingo! That’s the right statement for this car, it provides the driver a continuous rush. It was so hard driving home and not dipping into the power this car has waiting for you to explore. I can’t wait for the break-in period to pass. Also, this car certainly gets noticed. I would say at least 1/3 of the cars that either passed me or I passed, looked at it. Many of them even pulled along side and either gawked, pointed at it or gave me a thumbs up My Car: C6 Corvette Coupe, Machine Silver with Gray Interior,1SB Preferred, Equipment Group, Hydra-Matic 4L65-E automatic transmission, Navigation System, XM Radio, OnStar, Z51 Performance Package (3.15 rear with 4L65-E), and Polished Wheels.
My experience buying the Corvette: (
for those of you who have nothing better to read while waiting for your own Vette to show up).
Been there, done that!Buying a new Corvette can take you from a funky low to an ultimate high. In mid August I ordered a fully loaded convertible with a power top from a local dealer sight unseen. My salesman knew less about the car than I did (and that was before I joined this forum). However, I felt somewhat satisfied with the deal since I was first on their list for a convertible and the sales manager seemed to know about acquiring Corvettes. He estimated mid November for it to be in. Unfortunately, at that time I didn’t know about what allocation issues came with a small dealer. Based on numerous (less than encouraging) discussions with my dealer, and all the constraints and production challenges associated with the 2005 convertible, it looked like I would not get the car until sometime in 2005.
After re-evaluating what I wanted in a new Corvette, I realized that one factor I had not considered was cargo space. I wanted to use the C6 for trips to Florida and the convertible was inadequate for our needs and I would have to board my small dog. I visited a big local dealer who just got some C6’s in and briefly sat in a coupe but I couldn’t get a test drive. It had a $7,000 markup over MSRP and I told them they were crazy and left. On 22 October, I cancelled my convertible order and I contacted several of the sponsoring dealers on this forum and one other. All but one responded back by the next day and lucky for me one was Dave Salvatore at Kerbeck. They had the exact car I wanted in a coupe and it was due in a couple of weeks. I decided to put down a deposit on it and on 1 November they had a VIN for me and I signed a contract on it.
Early this week, I finally got a call from Dave saying the car was in so my wife and I drove the 3-1/2 hours up to Atlantic City on Saturday and picked it up. I was greeted and treated warmly and before we left, the General Manager and Mr. Kerbeck came by to talk to us and thanks us for buying a Corvette from them. As others have already posted, Dave is a great guy and I will buy my next Vette from him.
