I am looking to purchase a C6 this spring and stopped by a dealership in Muncie, Indiana yesterday. The sales manager told me they would "deal aggressively" on the price of a new C6 and would be happy to place an order for me. He said he could get very close to GMS but not over that in fairness to GM employees. He also stated that if I did order one, I was under no obligation to purchase it once it came in. The more they sell, the more they get allocated. Sounds like good news for customers!! Don't pay above MSRP!!!!
Oh yeah, I also got the brochure and DVD AFTER they found out I was serious about buying one
They can't sell more than they are allocated so be careful.
Allocation comes first. They can then sell what they are allocated but can not sell more.
true, but if they sell their allocation early and are aggressive, they can get their allocation increased for the following year. The GMS discount sounds good if you can get!
.....if they sell their allocation early and are aggressive, they can get their allocation increased for the following year.......
Allocation is spread out over the model year, based on last year's sales. If a dealer sold 12 Corvettes last year, then they can expect about one allocation per month.
The only way to increase allocation is for the dealer to buy a Corvette from another dealer. Then, that Corvette will be added to the selling dealer's allocation for future years.
Occasionally extra allocation becomes available and those cars are given to the dealers who sell the car quickly as opposed to letting it sit on the showroom floor.

The allocation for all dealers is based on their 12 month sales history. They have to increase their sales to increase their allocation and you cannot increase your sales without having more cars to sell. You have to get them from other dealers to increase your number of available units.

Did he indicate he had allocations available and give you an estimated delivery time? If the time frame is short, I don't think you have anything to lose. Good luck.
I will have to get back to you on the name....his card is at home and I am at work.... I talked to a salesman first, then he came out all fired up to sell Vettes and gave me 10 of his business cards and told me if anyone was interested to send him that way. I was there 4 weeks ago and they would not budge off of MSRP so I am not sure why the difference now. Just trying to share the info.... How is Gas City?

Four weeks is long enough for trends to change. I have sometimes gotten better deals when I have shifted to another sales person. Occasionally I have even met with the manager, especially when I have received a better deal from another dealer and the sales person won't budge. Ultimately I have found that the best way to proceed is to wait until they will go no lower. Then make a straight offer of what you will pay. You have probably noticed that they are anxious for you to make an offer of what you will pay. In the current market for the C6 I suspect that if you offer a couple thousand less than msrp it will be accepted. Last August several dealers in this area were asking $10,000 over msrp, and by next summer they may accept $5000 under. Sales of the C6 are not going as expected.

Would you please let the rest of us know exactly what your sources of information are for this claim? None of us have been able to come up with the actual sales numbers for the C6, nor have we been able to find the C6 sales forecasts that were generated by GM.
Since much of your post has been based on these sales numbers, would you please share them with the board? Thanks.
Bottom line: I put a $1k deposit and ordered in April. I negotiated for MSRP – original delivery was Sep, then Nov, finally dealer wouldn’t deliver until Jan. I contacted Kerbeck in AC, NJ and had my exact car a week later at MSRP. 80% of their business is out of state, it was a snap. From talking to other CF members, I learned that a dealer is only offered so many quotas. When my car came in it had an auto vice std. and CAS interior vice black. They told me that the sales manager made a mistake. No doubt some buyer paid over list and they sold my car to him. Most likely that happened twice. Got my deposit back, but it cost me 2 mos and a lot of Aggravation. Good luck.
