(I used my GM Gold card in 1998 to purchase a 99 OLDS for my wife -Gm Card gave me $5000 off!!) I received another $1000 off my C6 in Sept. as a OLDS LOYALTY CREDIT.

I have the GM card as well. They have said the MAX on '05 C6 is $1,000. I'll be using it when mine arrives right around Xmas. Keep in mind that your "earnings" are accumluated based upon when your statement cuts. For instance, mine cuts on the 19th of the month so any purchases made from the 20th of the previous month up until the 19th of the current month will be awarded if I purchase the vehicle AFTER the 19th of the current month. I have $500 of earnings from prior months. In order to get the additional current earnings I will have to purchae my car after the 19th of December which won't be a problem for me. But if my statment would cut on like the 27th of the month then I would not get any of the "earnings" from the previous month if I bought the car prior to the 27th.
Clear as mud huh?

Customer Service just told me to have dealer verify
At time of purchase with rewards program and then dealership should give me discount on car but I was wondering if they do this on a Corvette?

I checked with GM Card and the max award right now on a Corvette is $1,000, regardless of when you opened your card with them. Therefore, if you have purchased $20,000 in goods/servcies you have accumulated $1,000 in awards which could be applied towards the purchase of a new Vette or other GM vehicle (except Saab and Hummer H1). Other cars have much higher awards limits. Just go to gmcard.com for all the details.

I think there is still some confusion on redemption limits. I have the "older" GM Card that is blue or black, I can't tell which. This older card has a maxmimum earnings cap of $500 per year and the earnings expire after seven years. So you can in effect bank $3500 if you wait the full seven years. This older card does not have a GM imposed maximum redemption limit on any vehicle, the only limit is the amount of your rewards balance. I used my balance on the 04 convertible I bought in August and I redeemed my full $2300 balance, not the maximum $1000 shown on the gmcard webpage.

If I'm hearing you correctly you are saying that it depends on when you got your card?....Now, if you got a card in 2003 how could they possibly determine what "redemption allowance" they will give on a 2005 Corvette?
It is my understanding that GM places redemption points/allowances on their cars when they come out and it doesn't matter what type of card you have. They just say for instance a 2005 Vette will have a max of $1,000, a 2005 GMC Yukon will have a max of $3,000, etc.

These older GM cards were grandfathered in under the old system, so the vehicle based cap does not apply to the older cards. When the "new" cards came out a couple of years ago (maybe longer, I don't recall exactly when) current cardholders had the option of sticking with the old card or going with the new card. I stuck with the old system so the vehicle cap would not apply to me. As far as I could tell the only downside to the old system was that you could only earn a maximum of $500 per year. My understanding is that the new card, which I do not have so I am not certain on this, has no annual earnings cap but GM does impose a limit on how much you can apply to a new vehicle purchase.

Very interesting. Thanks for educating me. On the new card (which I have) there is no cap on reward $$$ in any given year just a cap on individual vehicles.

Glad to help. Being new to the Corvette community and new to the forum I feel like all I have done is ask questions and absorb information. It is nice to finally help someone else for a change.

On a side note did you see my posting on the GMS topic where GM has apparently changed the rules when it comes to GM cards and supplier pricing? I would be very unpleasantly surprised if I planned on using GM card rewards and found out at the time of sale that I couldn't use them any longer.

In the "good ole days" you could accumulate $1000/year up to 7 years--except that before the full 7 years were up GM changed the rules in midstream and began limiting the maximum accrual per year to $500.
On my first two vettes I was able to get a bit over $11,000 off between the two. Because of the more recent lower limits(meaning $500/year) I was only able to get $2695 off--still not bad though.
I was one of those that didn't opt for the newer card that limits what you can claim toward specific cars.
Time to start building toward my C7!!

Paid for my C6 yesterday and use my GM points. I had $1075 and GM bumped me up to $2000 with their bonus points program and they approved that $2000 off the C6. It was a great surprise because I was expecting
only the $1000
only the $1000
