Default Something Very Odd

When I first picked up my car a noticed how hot the center consol was compared to other cars. I even put a recording thermometer in the consol to see what the temperature was _ 130F I was concerned about putting things like CD's in there that the heat might damage. Well, one day a while back I became aware that the heat was gone! There is just a little warmth around the shifter but everything else is completely cool. It's an A4 with about 3000 miles when I noticed the difference. Anyone have any ideas as to what could cause the change?

Maybe turned it off, but left the fridge door open.

Don't feel strange my C5 would feel like and oven and when I picked up my C6 it was the same but now after 2100 miles it doesn't get that hot anymore strange things are happening down there.

Mine did exactly the same thing. It was very warm when I first got it but now, with 1,000+ miles on it, it's not warm at all. I'm not sure if something has burned off or if the colder weather is a factor.

Default No problem here

My silver C6 has ~500 miles and the center console has never been even close to being warm...and yes I do drive it occassionally over 55 MPH. I just assumed GM fixed the problem that I had read on the Forum. Mine is a 6sp.

Maybe something DROPPED OFF.

With several people experiencing the same thing, it MAY be the weather.

This is a hair brained explanation but maybe there is significantly more friction on an un-broken-in tranny hence more heat generation in the early going. As things get worn less friction generates less heat... I dunno.

First 520 miles: no heat from center exhaust. I do hear an intermittant clicking noise from behind the right side of the diriver's seat when going over some bumps. Anyone experience this?

Adjust the little rubber bumpers under your rear hatch lid, this should eliminate the loose rear hatch.

Weather hadn't cooled much when I noticed the difference. That plus I'm not sure what would be in the center tunnel that would produce less heat with breakin.

BTW, you take great car photos. Ever think of another career and moving to a warmer climate?

I was complaining about the tunnel heat back when the outside air temp was in the 80s, but now that it is down in the 40s, not so much. I expect the hot tunnel will return next summer (unless I install one of Elite Engineering's ceramic coated plates first).

I think I may have an explanation (maybe, maybe not)...

Do u guys have this problem with the windows rolled down? because if, so, the slight vacuum effect by doing this causes the air travelling under the car, around where the shifter is, to want to pull up, and into th cabin..since this air is heated via the manifold/cats, it'll tend to heat the area around the shifter...with the windows raised, you don't have this effect...

now, since the temps are cooler, most of you are driving w/ the windows up, thus the problem hasn't been happening as much..

try driving with the windows down, and then up to see if i'm right...
