HP per liter is a tired, old argument. When comparing apples to apples, every car company looses engine effiency when displacement increases. When I say comparing apples to apples, don't throw a low compression, low technology, fuel miser against a company's latest technological pride and joy.
Take a look at honda; A company that many hold on a pedistal due to their high hp/liter ratios. Their smaller engines are quite a bit more effiencent than the larger ones. (apples to apples please... =)
If you want a smooth idle, then I'd suggest taking a peek at the XLR. That car is smoooooooth.
A 400 hp corvette with a little lumpy idle should be welcomed with a smile.
You shoulda seen my 68 Camaro RS/SS with a 396. Probably put out 350 hp. Felt like a jack hammer mounted to my butt.

I own an SC400 with 200K miles and the idle is still silky smooth. Actually, you don't hear or feel the engine at idle. Sometimes I'll turn the starter without realizing it's already started.

That said, my 2001 coupe also had a perfectly smooth idle although the exhaust wasn't as silent. I can't imagine that the LS2 should have a normal lumpy idle with the LS1 is perfectly smooth.

You surely aren't serious whne you call DOHC engines bulky and expensive?

Please tell me you're not.
DOHC engines are very bulky and very expensive when compared to 2 valve pushrod engines of the *SAME* displacement.

Once again, you've outdone yourself professor. Why oh why do we continue to attact these anonymous keyboard warriors who are so brave hiding behind their computers? You try to degrade my school? Where did you go? What do you drive? Oh that's right. You're hiding. Once again, I just don't know how to respond to your superior intellect. Yeah, comparing an F1 car to a street car purchased by people with limited resources......good comparison. You are absolutely the master of apples to apples comparisons. Way to illustrate and support your point of view.

p.s. you might try using some other modicon than . We have others. In fact, right now, comes to mind.

I know you may want it smooth. LS1 vs LS2, LS2 is ZO6 cam in a six liter motor.

Wow, you must have been the captain of the debate team. GW doesn't have a thing on you buddy.

Your response illustrates your futile attempt to assuage your intellectual ineptitude.

College Station, TX. You must be proud.
