Old guys.......

I don't have any problem with the other dudes. Its just that it would be cool to have like minded people to hang out with.
Thanks

Its not like we have a lot in common. We would prefer to spend our time with like-minded individuals.
Talking about grandkids and great-grandkids doesn't do it for us. And you can leave them and their greasy fingers home and away from my car.

Personally, I like the "old guys". I still qualify in the 20s/30s category but the "dude crowd" can get tiresome pretty quick. The "old guys" bring more experience and balance to a group often times. I guess talking about grandkids just seems more appealing than talking about how drunk you got last night, where you puked, and where you woke up.

No ball caps here- I do knit caps and none of my jeans have holes. The experience comment is right on.Z06, you really have a propensity for getting folks stirred up. Good thing you’re a programmer and don’t have to deal with people on a regular basis. And I’ll bet rpspa’s grand kids don’t have sticky fingers.

Anyhoo, I don't see much wrong with being in a corvette club with older men. As mentioned, it's always great to be exposed to their stories of Corvette experiences and car knowledge. Even better, they sometimes have attractive daughters around my age.

A couple of years ago I was in a “young guy” Mustang club. They were so immature, ignorant, and over filled with testosterone that I bagged them (and my SVT Cobra). They would have turned me off even if I was only 25. Their biggest thrill was going to a local go-cart track and then getting ice cream.
(Why not a real race track?) I figured it was the only way they could get a speed thrill since most of their cars were lame.
At the same time I was campaigning my Cobra in the PSCA where I got the opportunity to legitimately spank MANY young guns. My biggest thrill was winning the finals in Las Vegas when I beat a young guy at the light – he had a faster ET but my reaction time was over 3 tenths faster.Naturally the Mustang club boys jabbed me about my age every chance they got. (It was really the only way they could get to me – since none of them stood a chance against my 630rwhp SVT.) Not only is this trite, but it is quite rude. You’ll be 45 before you know it. It will feel like a nano-second, mark my words.
The 25 year old who I work with just bought a new R32 Volkswagen. The neophyte actually thought he could take my Z06 (even I wasn’t that dumb when I was 25). I spanked him so bad – three times in a row without nitrous – that he started whimpering about buying a supercharger.
Richard Petty and other NASCAR professionals have been competitive into their 50s. Mark Martin is nearly 50 – do you think you’d have a chance against him??!! John Force (NHRA champion) ain’t no youngster either.
I think most Corvette clubs have some members in their 20s and 30s. Ours does. They are also more organized, well funded, and intelligent. I hate seeing car clubs restrict membership by age, sex, or politics. Then folks cop an attitude – both young and old. You’ll learn more and have more fun with us “mature” dudes…unless you really like go-carts and ice cream.
