Well I hate to post this but I broke down and traded my new c6 my coupe for a new porshce 911/997.I went down to test drive it since I was in the city where the porsche dealer is and man I was very impressed. The car outhandled the c6 it did not out run it but man can it take a corner. The built quality is 10 times what the c6 is. Im not bashing it I was just disappointed with the rattles and other issues.I know a first year run can have problems and I might run into some with the new 911 but its just a better car. They did give me killer money for the c6 though I broke even on the deal and had put almost 2k miles on the c6 so they sure hold there value right now.So I just wanted to say thanks for everybody input and I hope everybody continues to enjoy there cars.
I am not going to rip but I just read an article comparing the 2 and that the porsche was much more rough than the C6 and unless it was from a dead stop the C6 out ran it as well anyway good luck to you because I can't get mine built but I won't settle for something less than the C6 Convertible.
Enjoy your 911- life is too short! The build quality should be better, you pay a lot more for it. Rear engine cars are tricky though, be carefull with those corners, the tail likes to swing around.
I am not a rocket scientist by any means but I sure feel good about paying +40,000 less and getting the C6. This comes from a FORMER porsche owner. I had an opportunity to put some good miles on the car with my son this weekend on some mountain roads and the C6 felt like it was on rails. I also have the Z51 package.
Thanks! Everybody on this forum rocks everybody is real open minded and not to definsive I will still hang here a lot I just wish GM would put more quality in a car such as the vettte. My car had orange peel real bad and I really did not trust anyone around here to buff it out.I really do not think a car of this caliber should have such poor paint. My 911s paint is perfect I spent a lot of time comparing the 2 at the dealer today and there was a night and day difference in built and paint quality.
Enjoy The Porsche. Life Is Indeed Too Short Not To Have What You Want. Other Than A Few Broken Down C6's ,of Which I Own One---the Good C6's Are Pretty Respectable For The Money. It Really All Comes Down To What You Want . The Amount One Spends Does Not Always Equate To Fun Or Value Of The Car---but More The Perception Of The Individual Or The Needs Of The Buyer. If You Feel That A Porsche Is Worth The Additional Money Knowing Full Well That It May Not Even Be As Good In Many Areas Of Performance And Handling---then Why Not Have It? It All Depends On The Mindset Of Why We Buy A Particular Car. Are We Buying For Ourselves Or For Those That We Want To Either Impress Or Keep The Status Quo? One Of My Fonder Memories Is Smoking A 928 With My Bone Stock 82 5.0 Mustang---yeah That Was Back In The Day---but This Guy Thought The Very Name Of Porsche Would Be Enough To Handle Me ---wrong---but Just Because You Spent More Is No Guarentee That You Have More.
Not me, but someone looking for a Silver/Black vert C6. Must be close to $60 out the door.
Maybe this Viper would go for $65. No taxes added in AZ. with a private party resale. Soft prices on Vipers, maybe a few C6'ers would mover over to Dodge. No biggee, just a thought.
The law of deminishing returns.Sometimes to get that extra 2 % more it costs 50% more.I love my Vette but a Ferrari F430 is just pure sex.Its not 5 times as fast as a c6 nor is it 5 Xs better looking but that extra little bit , if I won the Lotto hell yes!
You gotta drive what you like. If a Porsche floats your boat, then enjoy. I for one did not buy a C6 because it is a good deal, I can get most anything I want. I got the C6 because it is what suits me best. I will disagree with the part about the rattles, my car has over 4000 miles and is tight as a drum and has been flawless.
