havent bought one in a long time last one was k40.what isthe best one now.Ive never heard of Valentine until this forum.is that the best?If not what is?
I can't honestly say if it's the best, but I've had mine for a year and a half and I swear by it! The directional aspect of it is worth the price alone. Only complaint I have is the NH state police now have Laser and when that reads you it's all over.
Good luck, Jeff
Over the years I've had most of them starting with the kleenex box sized Fuzzbuster in the mid 70's. I especially liked the Solo since no cords were necessary but currently have a Valentine 1. I didn't believe the hype about the directional arrows before I bought it but now that I have it they are great. I can't tell you how many times I've passed a radar trap on the highway, only to find a second cruiser (with its own radar) patiently lying in wait less than a mile up the road - which the arrows clearly warn about. Only problem with the V1 is that in "All Bogeys Mode" ( the most sensitive -it has three levels of sensitivity) you get alot of false alarms (mostly from shopping centers) Valentine claims that the cost of false alarms is outweighed by its superior performance and if you basically drive the same route daily that you'll get used to false alarms ). It also has a Bogey counter to tell you how many different source of radar are hitting you at once and the manual tells you that shopping centers usually hit you in pairs (one for automatic entrance and one for exit door so that will tell you if its probably false alarm) V1 isn't cheap but I believe that the cost of a good unit is worth it compaired to the insurance hit for a ticket (lets face it in a Vette, you probably wont be going only 10 MPH over). Good luck with your choice.

I bought a Beltronics 935 last year and so far it has saved me from a couple of tickets between California and the Oregon boarder. Liked it so much bought one for my wife and another for my son. Bell owns a large portion of patents in the detector industry. Highly recommended. Good Luck!!
I installed an Escort X50, Blue screen in my Coupe earlier this year. Love it, can actually see the blue screen with the top off and the sun shinning, and can hear it with the radio blasting. Installed it just to the left of the rear view mirror, ran the wires under the windshield header, then down the passenger A-pillar molding to the fuse panel.
Put the V1 in the Jeep, not sure why, only way I can speed on the highway in the Jeep is downhill; besides, when running with the CB on, the truckers keep me updated. As for the indication as to where the radar is coming from, I never really found worthwhile, when the detectors goes off, I slow down.
I honestly see no difference in warnings or false warnings. I just like the looks of the escort and the blue screen better.
Have some friends with Bel detectors, and they swear by them.
The best detector is yourself, watch the flow of traffic, especially the truckers.
