With 550 miles on the odometer and a very nice Sunday morning, I was ready to find out what the c6 really has. So I drove to a nearby area in the country where I felt at least semi-comfortable to let her rip. Boy was that fun! The torque and horsepower actually exceeded my expectations. I can truly report that this is the fastest car I have every owned (others I've owned of note: turbo charged 280Z, supercharged Mustang GT, Honda S2000, modded 89 IROC Z, modded 98 Z28, 98 M3, and a modded Nissan 300ZX twin turbo which I think had about 370 hp).
Observations/impressions; the car pulls relentlessly from about 3,500 RPM all the way to readline. WOT has a completely different sound as compared to partial throttle...very full and throaty (if that can be a word). I'm somewhat surprised that some folks don't like the way the c6 sounds. I especially like the sound of the exhaust under partial throttle between 4,000 and 6,000 RPM. Find some twisties and run it in 2nd and 3rd. Awesome. That said, I have heard the Bullet exhaust system on this forum and was very impressed. I might consider it. Thankfully, the crank pulley behaved itself. Considering the power and torque of the c6, the Z06 will be absolutely awesome and I will envy those that get one (but will be absolutely happy with the c6).
The Corvette is a great car and I'm thrilled to be part of the community.
Now take a drive to say... Angels Camp where you can get some decent mountain driving, maybe even over highway 50 or from Placerville to Auburn. You will really have a blast. Make sure the road is dry and you will see how sticky the car is to the road. It is just amazing. The "G" meter is a blast as well.

You make me wish I got the 6 speed instead of the a4. 2nd and 3rd on the curves sounds like a You mention a modded 98 z28.What mods? I traded a modded 02 z28--intake/exhaust/ reprogramming for my c6 that would have given it a run for the money---but it was real squirrely as it gained speed, unlike the c6 which inspires confidence [maybe too much]. The a4's are so easy to drive, launch and go that until you look at the speedometer you say to yourself this car is not all that. They are really sneaky fast. The 6 speed lets you know immediately that it is FAST. In a perfect world we should have one of each--a4 for commutor car and an m6 vert for the weekends.
It's also nice to have a car that the new doesn't waer off in a month. Matter a fact I'm beggining to wonder if it's ever going to wear off. Now that's way cool!
