As I've mentioned on this site before I cancelled my vert order and bought a turbo cabriolet. no, i don't belong on THAT forum 'cause I still have my beautiful black c6. my point is twofold. Just for giggles I checked my tpw today and it was moved again from 1/10 to 1/17. It really was a tough order to fill. Black, red Black, 1sb, and z51. No frills. Point # 2 is that the verts come trickling in to dealers unordered. GM sucks for doing that!! www.vettenet.com here in fl has a black one on the ground. God knows what they're asking, but I think the situation sucks. That's not QC. Just bad F****G business.

Steve
Steve, I agree with you.
I also am troubled by the fact that GM announced last May that production would begin on verts in July (I have the dealer "Initial Ordering Workbook" that says so), and that after seeing that, people ( I was one of them) ordered convertibles with a reasonable expectation that they would get their car in the fourth quarter, worst case - and now they don't even feel any obligation to us to explain what the heck is going on. I'd love to be in a business where I could treat my customers like that and not lose my job.
I have followed my convertible slot because it went to a very good friend of mine. He and I have both bought many cars from the same dealer, and we deal with the owner and inventory manager. I had a commitment for the first convertible they get (and he now has it). They still don't even have a TPW for that slot. My order was submitted to the factory in May when they first started accepting orders in the system. It is looking like that slot will take a full year to fill.
What the F..$$$$### is f=going on. GM is really starting to P___ Me off. It's like some Guru is up there deciding day to day who gets a vert. I noticed that the plant manager has his, what's up with that? I live in Texas which has a lot of warm days in the winter and would love to be driving my Vert right now,but with a TPW of 3/28 i might as well cancel and get an '06
I'm scared to check my TPW on my convertible any more. The last I heard, which was two weeks ago, it's now at 1/31 from 12/06. Another forum member who has a Red with beige conv top on order still has a 1/3 TPW. His dealer sold 200 vettes last year and Criswell, my dealer, sold over 200 vettes last year. I contacted GM customer service 2 weeks ago asking "why?". The guy called me back several times saying he didn't have an answer yet. He finally called me Tuesday and said the reason is that they only have black tops. I had ordered a black top. After stumbling around for a few seconds, he says "you did?" Then proceeded to say that the convertibles were slowed down. (Like we didn't know that!) Also that once a TWP is changed, it can't be moved back. In other words, he didn't follow through since my mail did tell them my top was black and manual. And it's just lip service, because he doesn't know why, obviously, and wouldn't do anything about it anyway. Seems like they're just throwing darts at order #'s and changing dates randomly. A triple black convertible that Criswell ordered right before mine has been pushed into February.
I've read other threads where previous owners of new model years went through the same thing. That doesn't make me feel a bit better. I'm disgusted with them for accepting orders they couldn't fill, poor quality control, or poor choices. This whole experience leaves me with a very bad opinion of GM and their process.
I hear you guys. Shaftaa, as you probably remember, My TPW went 11/22, 1/10, 1/17, then out of nowhere, 12/13. The car is completed, event code 3800 and I have a VIN. My dealer is super small. City Chevrolet in San Diego. They have only received 6 coupes plus my Vert in allocation to date. I am obviously thrilled, but have no idea how customer orders are selected. I am pretty sure if you ordered a power top you are screwed.
That's what is frustrating you want to a small dealer with very little allocation and yours is on route but the Kerbecks Maxie and other keeping getting delayed. JKress I am happy for you though.
There are probably a 1000 other threads just like this one. Customer orders a vert with an expectation of delivery. GM delays the vert then delays it again then delays it again. No reason and no apologies. Wash rinse repeat.
Mine has moved three times since my original TPW and I have a black manual top. I've seen random number generators with greater accuracy than GM!
