Went down to local chevy dealer yesterday, it may not be what they are actually getting (I pray), but they had a 8K markup on the (blue, and only they had) C6 on the lot!
Ridiculous. Obviously you'll be visiting a "customer-friendly" dealer to make your purchase. My 2 1/2 week-old coupe came in at 3K under MSRP - the dealer is a friend of mine.

DEALER TERRORISM IS OVER!!!!! Supply on the coupes, way exceeds demand! Tell 'em to screw off. I paid $1500.00 over on my coupe in Sept when I had the first one on the block. Now Kerbeck, and many other dealers will come off $2500.00.
I just paid MSRP for a Vert. Bought it from Hare Chevy in Noblesville In. The dealers in Fl. are trying to get 10K over. Don't lay down. We've got the POWER!!!

Even if the dealer is fully prepared to let it go for under MSRP he is still gonna throw on a chunk of markup. Never know when a sucker is gonna stroll through the lot. If its the car you want with your options make an offer and see what shakes. One of the local dealer went to msrp from a 10k markup and Im out in the sticks. It was one of two cars that had the options I wanted in my area and I went ahead and picked it up. At the time I could have ordered one from a forum vendor and got 1k under so I did give up some cash to get one locally on the ground.
Have you tried the vechicle locator on the chevy web site?
Just type in your zip, the miles willing to travel, and vola, Corvette's.
Here in Cincinnati I had about 20 to choose from.

I agree with those who are suggesting you bargain with the dealer. First decide what price you would pay - msrp, msrp - $2000, etc. If you would pay $2000 less than msrp then find a forum dealer advertising that price and copy it. I would then tell the salesperson that you are aware of Corvette Forum prices at $2000 less than msrp and just ask if he can be competitive. If they ask for proof you have it. If they say 'no', hold out your hand and say goodbye. If that doesn't do it, nothing will. You might also decide how much it is worth to you to buy from your neighbor. There are lots of bugs, and giving them immediate attention would be part of my deal.
You need to shop around. Many forum members bought under MSRP or at MSRP.
But I've started to see dealers in Cleveland trying to add major markup. We have one guy here pushing a $18K markup on in stock coupes.
Order what you want, but be sure you get a dealer who has allocation. I wouldn't wait too much longer. There is a lot of debate here about how strong the current sales are doing. I expect sales to pick up and the total production year to be sold out in the next 4 weeks. And then the markups will really start to mean something!
