If GM offered custom special order paint from the factory, would you be interested? And if so, how much additional would you be willing to pay for it included in delivery as an option?
GM paint sucks on all cars and trucks. I would do a custom paint for sure but nothing they would offer, and to be hoonest to get a custom paint job you are looking at over $10k at least to do it correctly.

I beg to differ. The paint job on my mag red C6 is nothing short of excellent. There is minimal orange peel, only noticable in low, indirect light. The metallic flake is evenly distributed, and the paint is uniform in color. In short, it looks fabulous...
I can't speak for other GM or C6 owners, but you're dead wrong with respect to my car. I think your judgement is overly harsh at best.

Mine is great too. Maybe it's the color. Or more likely who's operating the paint booth the day yours was painted.
Interesting thing about the poll is that 50% of respondants would pay $1,000 or more for custom paint. 20% over $2K. GM get the idea???

Reason: typo
i would pay $5000 for a pearl like effect. even though there a lot of great paint guys out there, i would only want it done from gm. i have seen many show cars that have excellent looking paint but fall short of the complete job...cutting in door jams, under the hood, etc..etc...
i personally would like something in the bluish/greenish that changes colors at different angls and different lighting.

Your quote is SUPER FUNNY.

I guess orange peel is acceptable to you?? Nothing short of excellent???
Go check out a Ferrari and then compare it to your paint job. Go check out a Nissan 350Z and go compare it to your paint job. You can even look at a Toyota Camry/ Then come back and report. I think you will quickly change your mind about the EXCELLENT comment.
Any chance that GM can do a custom paint color and a custom paint job??? That would be worth some extra funds. I think Audi, BMW and a few other auto makers charge like $400-700 for upgrade paints for color or metalic paints.
Yeah, I'd pay extra for a sweet paint job. Once saw a Ferrari with an icy sliver/blue paint job...WOW! I'd pay for that. But since you have "no way" listed up there TWICE...I guess that will be the one to win...damn biased polls.
I've seen jazzloves car and it looks almost as good as mine. Yano, you need to lighten up and actually go LOOK at a C6. While they may not be perfect, thay are pretty damn good. Only a few cars off the line were plagued by the OP problem.

I looked at the 350z. Had orange peel. Same with my daugters Celica. Same with my wifes BMW. Same with MBs and any others I have seen. I never closely looked at a Ferrari so I have no idea what kind of paint job it may have. Fact is near as I can tell they dont make modern mass produced car that are completly clear of it. On my car it is only discernable in the right light while under careful examination and is on an equal standing with my wifes BMW in terms of paint quality. I think your assertation is overly harsh, unrealistic and untrue.

My point exactly...orange peel is not acceptable IMO.
I understand that most cars have OP but you will never get a good reflection or shine from a car with OP. So to get back to the original question the answer is NO. I would not pay more for paint inless it was perfect and mass produced cars will not have a perfect paint job.
