While bathing my DSOM baby noticed a 2" thin (almost invisible) scratch on the driver's side door . It is about thigh high (on a "normal" height adult) and could have been done with keys, ring, who knows what. It went through the clear coat and paint. Nobody will (probably) ever notice it but I KNOW IT'S THERE!
Saw a link to paintscratch.com. Anybody have experience with their products? Hints, recommendations? I think the Basecoat Paint pen should be thick enough to take care of it.
I noticed yesterday that I 'dinged' the right front wheel.
Stupid. Stupid. Stupid. Stupid. Stupid. Stupid. Stupid. Stupid. Stupid. Stupid. Stupid. Stupid. Stupid. Stupid. Stupid.......
The only consolation is that I didn't pop for the polished ones.

Thanks for your help

I used it once on my Tahoe with minimal success. Problem is that the pen with the paint is too thick for hairline scratches. I think it's really made for chips. I made my hairline scratch worse, more noticable. DSOM is a tough color for what I'm gonna suggest but if you can find a crayon.....don't laugh. Second day I had my black coupe I hit the door against the garage wall. A black crayon, and some rubbing after it was applied made the scratch virtually unnoticable. What I'm saying is don't make it worse. Perhaps your dealer can wet sand it out

I feel your pain. The second week I had my 350Z, I curbed the driver side front wheel big time. I was sick for a week. As a result, I've been ultra-careful with my new Corvette. But I suspect *eventually* it is going to get a scratch, chip, etc, and I'll be sick all over again. It is part of having a new car.
Curbed the driver's side wheel with less than 600 miles...just the edge of the rim about 4" long...not really noticable from 3 feet away...but I know it's there. AAAAghhhh!
Did a search for threads to get this fixed - nothing recent. Is this fixable? Any information on how/where to get this fixed? I have the polished wheels.

Thanks Steve. Sometimes the "basic" solutions are best . NOW, the BIG question......what crayon color best matches DSOM? Also, once applied, is there anything good to use as a topcoat?

Thanks!
ABSOLUTELY FIXABLE!! Call your dealer. They have a guy who comes in once a week to do that kinda work. It's almost like watching an artist. He sands with a fine paper and a super fast tiny machine. Then he paints, and clearcoats. I've had it done a few times. Down here the Co. is called Curbside Repair. If Chevy can't help, call Mercedes or Porsche and ask them. I'm sure you have a curbside kinda guy in your area

That's the part I can't figure out. What color matches DSOM? Try blending different colors on the scratch. It's just crayon. You can always wipe it off. With the black, I sorta gently filled in the scratch and blended it with my finger. Waxed right over it and gently wiped it off. Once you have the colors right you can reapply at will. Best household fix there is. You know the old saying..KISS That's what I did. The other option I've used when stuff like that REALLY bothers me is to have the dealer wet sand it out. Amazing what they can do even with a tiny deep scratch. Good Luck.

Go here and click "register". When the form comes up, drop down the selection that asks you what your favorite color is and they are all listed visually and by name.

Thanks Mike. Looks like Burnt Orange or Sunset Orange. I guess I'm out to find a box of 64 crayons and hope they are in there!
Yours won't be the first I'm sure. The more careful we try to be the more certain Crap Happens.
I have only my cleaning obsession to blame for my first scratch.
I was cleaning the windsheild and the edge of the crystal on my watch barely touched and it left a microfine scratch about 1" long. No one else has noticed it so it can't be that bad.
My cherry was popped on delivery. Noticed a tiny 1" long minor scratch on the top left rear quarter pannel. Options were 1). canx the deal-no 2.) Drive back fm Atlantic City to VA and let them fix it-NFW or 3.) Touch-up paint. OK Kerbecks service guys did a good job. So good that I am the only one who know it's there.
I feel your pain. Stanley knows the web site for the good stuff. Follow his advice.

I didn't realize watch crystals were that hard!
I learned to always take off my watch and to be careful with all snaps, zippers, etc.
