Tough choice, but it depends on what you will be doing with the car. If it's a daily driver, the definitely a coupe. Also, if you're looking for a ride that you can "escape" into, and get away from the world, again, definitely a coupe. Remember, it's a targa, so it is a vert of sorts.
If you're looking for a fun car, not much practicality, but hot all the way around, then definitely a vert. Also a great Babe magnet...
I have the C6 coupe and have noticed no exagerated wind noise. I previosly had a C5 vert and even though it was BEAUTIFUL with the top down, it was noisy at higher speeds. Also it was a major pain trying to keep the tan top clean and leak free (it was even garage kept)! As I am only 105 pounds and 5'2", I wondered if the top would be too much to lift, but it's a snap. Glad I saved the money and wait-time for the vert...and got the coupe!
Had a c5 coupe and agree buffeting was bothersome. Also had a 2002 c5 vert. You can't beat it on a nice day, but I found myself not really putting the top down all that often, so I went with the coupe for the c6. I'll let you know this summer how much I miss he vert.
I experience very little buffeting - certainly nothing "excessive". Bought the coupe for the increased luggage space ( over the convertible ) because we'll be using it for touring ( Grand Touring? ). First trip will be to San Diego - probably mid-Feb.

Hey Rook1e, next time read the post if you can, I was quoting someone else also I didn't repeat "Goomba" in my comment
Do you think if that wants those Oakleys in your coupe he would hesitate to do a smash and grab.... NOT"

Some Goomba sees a nice set of sunglasses on the dash and slashes your top to get those $150 Oakley’s. So in one hand you have …. and in the other …..Decisions Decisions

convertable all the way...when the sun is out and your out cruzin your favorite side road you'll feel like a million dollars...i also love the look of the convertable top up or down....on the warm summer nites go out for a drive...come back with the biggest smile on your face feeling refreshed...i had 2 trans ams with t-tops pretty close to coupe...sure you get pretty close to that feeling but not quite the same...i don't know rest is up to you...i say VERT!!!!
I'm not much into top down cruisin. I'd much rather listen to music or have a conversation...so the Coupe is for me. I do actually like the coupe look better, and felt that it has more security too...from a crash or from the "goomba" who wants to break in.
On the rare occasion I do take the top off, it's very fun! Crazy at 60 mph, friggin loud at 70.
