Default Backup Power Source

I replaced my AC/Delco crap battery this evening (dead after only 700 miles) and was pleasantly surprised that the only thing I had to reset was the window indexing. The NAV, radio presets, seat positions, DIC message, etc. all held their settings. I figured I'd have to start from scratch. Cool!

Is there some kind of a backup power source that holds these settings?

i dont know if there is a backup power source, but it may be that those settings are programmed much like resetting the firmware in routers and such, and keeps the info - just a guess

Bring the windows all the way up and hold the switch in the up position for three seconds. Release the switch. Then hold the switch up again for another three seconds. Nothing to it!

Nope. They're written to NVRAM.

Default Good News

Scott, Glad to hear that’s it to the battery replacement. I was fearful of having to spend 2 hrs in the car re-doing all the settings. Thanks man.
