Remember there are other things to warm up other than the engine. The Trans usually warms somewhat with the engine but there are wheel bearings, rear diff, and tires to consider. Just start out driving gently. 30 yrs ago they recommended a warm-up but no longer. Scissors is right on with his additional recommendations.
Same, I drive her gingerly until everything (especially oil temp) is up to normal temps. When the Cags starts to operate, I know that we're getting close.
You don't have to, but there's always a couple of things to do before departure that makes it kinda like a warm-up. As mentioned, the seat belt, the dic info, the glance in the mirror to see if you look attractive.
