I don't think it cost GM $2K to put it on the car. The HID system on Maxima has a parts price of about $700 for both and Maxima has better HID system than C6.

the capsules for the maxima's are over $700 each, not sure if they come with the bulb in them or not.
Would the bulbs on a new C6 not be covered under warranty? Any other vehicle I've owned in the past that ate bulbs under the warranty period were replaced no questions asked by the varoius dealers who sold me the vehicle, Jeep GC, Dodge truck, Subaru. After all, bumper to bumper means just that.

s/b - SAFETY ISSUE = 5year/50,000mile
.
.
LOL - I ALWAYS try to find a "safety" issue!
.
.
.
ino,ino - it ain't gonna happen BUT - this should be covered under 3/36 no questions asked!
There is no way you should have to pay for this! Get a hold of a zone rep and force the issue. I am the quality director for a major lighting supplier (not for the Corvette, though) and we and GM pay for light source replacement under warranty all the time. The rated life of the D2 HID capsule is over 3,000 hours. You should never have to replace it. It was definately defective.
GM is replacing my two sealed headlights on my C6.
$4400 CDN a pair. Needed GM area rep approval.
My lights had condensation.(water in the lens) YUCK!
-Bill.
That speaks for itself.
I have a 2004 Caddy CTS as my daily driver. It delevoped condensation in the backup lights. Took it in replaced with an 05 assembly (1 1/2 years old, 35,000 miles), no charge, no questions asked and I got a loaner. Those lights have to be under warranty! Also GM.
