I have a custom detailing shop in the local area that sells Teflon paint applications. Has anyone had this put on their cars? What are the advantages vs. disadvantages of doing this? What should I watch out for if I decide to do this?
The detailer owes me a favor and is prepared to do it for free, therefore cost is not a concern. I am more interested in any advantages or disadvantages, such as; will it harm the paint? Is there any chance they will introduce swirl marks when doing this (car is a black C6)?
I was talking with a Zaino rep a few years back who advised me to stay away from products containing teflon as it caused some sort of problem with the paint that wouldn't be evident for a couple of years. I can't vouch for the reliability of his statements, but I'm not taking any chances and refuse to put anything containing teflon on my cars finish.
The C6 may have different paint properties. But none is going on my C5.

Teflon was not developed or intended for use on paint.

Thank you! Finally a response I can do something with!
FYI - I officially passed on the offer this morning and spent the afternoon waxing my own car..... gotta luv the sunshine in San Diego.
I had the teflon with life time warranty done on my then new 2000 C5 vert in St Pete Beach, Fl. It looked great for about 120 days (always garaged) but it washed off. I went to the teflon man and asked what went wrong and he said I needed the $175 "touchup". I then found out about Zaino and its been my choice, I still have the C5 and my C6 has a TPW of 2/8!!!
Teflon would be a great addition to paint.....If you could subject the paint to the 600 plus degrees it takes to get teflon to adhere/impregnate a suface.
