I watched an episode of "Top Gear", the leading car show in England and they were testing then new C6. The thing they made fun of the most was the use of leaf springs. They were saying how leaf springs were used back in the 60s-70s and that they are ancient and outdated and they could figure out why a supercar like the Corvette would still use leaf springs.
What do you guys think?
Well, for one thing, that's an old story, and for another, the presenter of that show is a complete idiot. It's one of the best handling cars in the world - at any price - leaf springs or not . . .
A forum member sent an email to the producers of the show pointing out the inappropriateness of the commentators comments and bogus test results... their reply was the show is a 'tongue in cheek' type... British humor thing This show also mated a Cobra gunship against a Lotus Elise so just take the show for what it is...

We made better cars than the Brits in the 60's -70's and we are making better cars now. They should only complain if they can produce a car that will beat the Corvette and be priced the same. Nothing on the market priced within $10K of the Corvette's price can come close in looks and performance.
That show is VERY open to pick on anything it can use to do so... may it be the leaf spring on the Corvette... Or how they called the 350Z a Japanese muscle car...
Considering that's what I drive now (350Z), and they bash it... then they bash the Vette which I am on track to buy... I figure I will stick to the reviews they give a thumbs down to!

Why listen to them? When did they last make a good car? Remember Lucas Elec systems? Lucas made refrigerators too. That's why they have grown accustomed to warm beer.
clearly...they did make fun of it, but at the same time gave credit to it..corvette is not perfect..though most of you will say...ooohhhh we never said that..but truely thats what you are getting at..
Fine man..its a good car at the price..but it has point which can be criticized...
so thats what they did..
anyhow..you guys shouldnt be soo touchy..everyone's entitled to their opinions..and that show is awesome..
England is full of a bunch of goddamn sissie's.
Got there ***'s kicked in 2 wars and had to have us save their ***'s 2x .Also a bunch of socialist fools. WHO cares what they think. But they do build good race cars, but nowhere near the price of a Vette.
What ultimately counts is - results. How you get to the results - the process - can vary significantly. How many angels can fit on the head of a pin, anyway?
