To answer the two posts about how to strip the clear coat, you can strip it with automotive paint stripper. That's how the polishing shop did it. I watched them do it and you could see the places on the wheel that were just not polished before they were clear coated. It's as if whoever did them in the first place just said, "Oh well, good 'nuff" 
The guy at the polishing shop said the aircraft paint stripper works better, but he doesn't use it because then he would have to do a bunch of
