Default Interior finish problem?

The interior finish of my C6 dash and door side panels are "chalk board" like; i. e. , they mark very easily. Just normal rubbing from a leather jacket or swipes from a shoe toe when exiting will leave a noticeable mark. While these marks are easy to remove by just wiping with a damp cloth, they are a reoccurring nuisance.

Has anyone else observed this issue? Are there protective finishes that can be applied?

I have noticed the same problem and come to the realization that..........That's just the way it is. I really don't know what to do about it yet either.

Not limited to the Corvette... seems to be the new plastics being used by the automotive industry...

I have the same issues with the interior of my R32 (VW Golf)... also the 997 I tested had the same issues.

Not a big deal but a pain nevertheless... I think it is a small trade off for the good looks of the new interior...

You mean your dealer hasn't offered to Simonize and Scotchgard your C6 for only (you fill in the amount here, usually between $150 and $300)?

Mine has. I turned him down.

A quick wipe with Armorall removes and marks easily and helps prevent new ones. No amount of any protecive finishes will prevent your passenger from denting the lower speaker screen with his foot.

Do that on mine. Bet if we ask Sal, he'll come up with a recommendation.

Just have people take their shoes off before they get in your car.

Same here.. I mentioned this many posts ago. I can't say that I love the new interior more than my C5. The new C6 interior chalks up like you say and... the color is not Ebony it is Graphite. The C5 interior never chalked up like this and the carpet and interior was black not graphite.

My wifes bmw has what appears to be a very similar material. Looks the same, feels the same, and unfortunetly gets the same smudges on it. We still have not figured out how to keep it from happening. Her car is a year old and does it now just as much as when she got it so time does not seem to help in the short term. I wouldnt mind coating it with something but I dont like the armorall look. Its aggravating for me because in my garage I cant open my door all the way and my foot hits the door every time. Nothing a new garage wont fix...

Had a friend get in and out and scuffed it with his tennis shoe. Left a shiny mark against the flat finish...nothing removes it unless you want it all shiny, which I don't!

The material does scuff/mark easily.
A mild cleaner - like the Soft Scrub product - will remove any and all stains and marks from these pieces.
Unless you like the look of a messed up interior, I guess you'll be wiping and cleaning like the rest of us
