has anyone figured out how to remove the two small silver trim pieces on each side of the speedo cluster. There is a thread on removing the center console but not for this that I can find.
When I was looking for a rattle, I removed the entire cluster. It came out in about 3 minutes. There are two clips at the top center and the piece that goes around the cluster is all one piece.
I didn't really take a close look at how the two silver parts were connected, but I immagine that they are held on from the back with screws.
Pop the retaining clips out, pull out the entire assembly and unplug all of the switches and the entire piece will come out, really simple.
I hope this helps.
Kevin.

thank you! I will look at it and see if that all makes sense to me while looking at it. I may need to contact you again.
The most difficult part was figuring out how to unplug the switches. Some have little latches that need to be released before they will come out. You would all be surprized at how easily these cars come apart and go back together.
Make sure that the wheel in all the way out and down, lay a towel over it to avoid scratches. The cowling around the instrumnet cluster has no screws holding it in, just clips, so removal is very fast and doesn't require tools. If you were to remove the instrumnet cluster to get behind the dash to gain access to air vents etc... There are 4 screws holding the entire cluster in, once removed, simply pull out, unplug only a couple of main plugs and your free. You need to get the cluster at a particular angle to get it by the wheel, but once you figure it out, it comes right out. I was amazed at how simple it was and equally impressed as to how well this car has been designed, very simple in all areas.

Kevin, the 2 clips at the top center....how do you unclip them? do you use a screwdriver to separate the dash from the cluster?

thanks again!

I have a panel popper which is a tool like a screw driver with a bent end and is fatter at the tip. You could just as easily use a screw driver, or even your fingers for that matter.
